Responsibilities

  • Supervise carpentry maintenance and repair work across guest rooms, restaurants, meeting spaces, offices, back-of-house areas, and public facilities.
  • Follow hotel policies, engineering procedures, safety requirements, and standards during every assignment.
  • Inspect doors, locks, closers, safety chains, seals, stoppers, peepholes, frames, and related fittings.
  • Repair damaged or defective door components to maintain security, appearance, and reliable operation.
  • Maintain tables, chairs, storage cabinets, counters, wardrobes, shelving, partitions, and other hotel furniture.
  • Adjust, repair, assemble, and refit furniture when movement, wear, or damage affects usability.
  • Complete scheduled preventive maintenance involving carpentry, wooden surfaces, polishing, and building fixtures.
  • Restore wooden finishes through sanding, staining, polishing, sealing, and minor surface repair.
  • Review daily maintenance requests and arrange work according to urgency, guest impact, and available resources.
  • Provide hands‑on technical support to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and correctly.
  • Assist with masonry, painting, minor civil work, and other engineering duties when required.
  • Respond promptly to guest and departmental repair requests and resolve issues within timelines.
  • Coordinate with housekeeping, front office, food and beverage, security, and other departments before entering occupied areas.
  • Report defects or conditions that could affect safety, guest satisfaction, or operations.
  • Estimate timber, hardware, fittings, polish, adhesives, tools, and other materials required for planned work.
  • Inform the Engineering Supervisor about material requirements for major repairs, renovations, or projects.
  • Maintain carpentry tools, machinery, ladders, and equipment in safe condition.
  • Keep workshop and work areas organized and hazard-free.
  • Complete daily assignments, field inspections, work schedules, and preventive maintenance records.
  • Monitor repair quality and verify that work meets standards.
  • Reduce repeated maintenance by identifying root causes and durable solutions.
  • Guide and motivate team members with coaching on workmanship and safe methods.
  • Ensure employees receive safety instruction before using tools and equipment.
  • Follow fire, life safety, environmental, and health requirements.
  • Support safety and accessibility of firefighting equipment near work areas.
  • Coordinate with other trades for electrical, plumbing, painting, masonry, or mechanical repairs.
  • Stay informed about improved carpentry techniques and materials.

Role Context

The Carpentry Supervisor will support the Engineering Department by coordinating carpentry repairs, preventive maintenance, furniture restoration, and related building work across the hotel.
