Position Overview
Carpenter – Hotel Maintenance in Dubai, United Arab Emirates focuses on constructing, installing, maintaining, and repairing wooden fixtures throughout Novotel and Adagio Premium Dubai Al Barsha. The role requires strong finishing ability, technical drawing knowledge, and safe tool‑handling practices. The carpenter will maintain hotel rooms, public areas, offices, and operational facilities, working closely with engineering colleagues and other trades to complete planned and urgent maintenance work efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Construct, install, repair, and refurbish wooden structures and hotel fixtures.
- Maintain cabinets, wardrobes, bed frames, doors, chairs, tables, counters, shelves, and other furniture.
- Assess damaged items and determine the most suitable repair or replacement method.
- Produce customized wooden components according to operational and property requirements.
- Install windows, frames, skirting, flooring, trims, panels, and decorative finishes.
- Build wall frames and install door frames with accurate alignment and dimensions.
- Complete finishing work such as sanding, fitting, adjusting, polishing, and surface preparation.
- Participate in event, display, show, and production fabrication projects when assigned.
- Read and interpret drawings, measurements, technical instructions, blueprints, and work orders.
- Select appropriate wood, plywood, wallboard, fasteners, adhesives, and finishing materials.
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and fit materials accurately.
- Inspect completed work to confirm quality, stability, appearance, and safe operation.
- Respond to guestroom and public‑area maintenance requests within agreed service timeframes.
- Coordinate work with electricians, plumbers, painters, engineers, and other maintenance personnel.
- Protect guest belongings, furniture, flooring, and surrounding surfaces while carrying out repairs.
- Communicate professionally when maintenance work requires interaction with hotel guests.
- Maintain tools, machinery, ladders, and carpentry equipment in safe working condition.
- Report damaged, missing, or unsafe tools and equipment promptly.
- Keep workshops, storage spaces, and work areas clean and organized.
- Store materials safely and maintain awareness of available supplies.
- Follow hotel safety procedures, permit requirements, and personal protective equipment rules.
- Identify hazards before starting work and take appropriate preventive measures.
- Minimize material waste through accurate measurement, cutting, and reuse where suitable.
- Support preventive maintenance inspections and planned refurbishment activities.
- Adapt work priorities to urgent repairs, guest requirements, events, and changing operational needs.
- Complete assigned records, work orders, and maintenance updates accurately.
- Perform other reasonable maintenance duties requested by hotel management.
Ideal Profile
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification is preferred.
- Previous experience as a Carpenter, Finished Carpenter, Joiner, or hotel maintenance technician.
- Experience within a hotel, resort, residential property, commercial building, or facilities environment is advantageous.
- Strong practical knowledge of wood, plywood, wallboard, furniture, framing, and finishing techniques.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, cutting equipment, measuring devices, and carpentry machinery.
- Ability to read technical drawings, blueprints, specifications, and written work instructions.
- Strong attention to measurements, alignment, finishing quality, and structural stability.
- Creative problem‑solving ability when repairing unusual or customized items.
- Safety‑conscious approach with commitment to established work procedures.
- Physical strength and stamina to lift materials, operate tools, and perform manual tasks throughout the shift.
- Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with engineering colleagues and other trades.
