Job summary

Tanqeeb in the United Arab Emirates is seeking a skilled Carpenter/Steel Fixer to perform carpentry and reinforcement works on construction sites in Abu Dhabi. You will read drawings, prepare formwork, and assemble materials for concrete structures while ensuring accuracy and safety.

Ideal candidates have hands-on experience with formwork, shuttering, reinforcement steel, and concrete works; able to work independently or as part of a team; and committed to maintaining a safe work environment.

Qualifications

• Experience as Carpenter or Steel Fixer in construction.
• Ability to read basic construction drawings.
• Knowledge of formwork, shuttering, reinforcement steel and concrete works.

Responsibilities

• Perform carpentry works including formwork, shuttering and general woodwork.
• Install and fix reinforcement steel according to drawings and specs.
• Prepare formwork for concrete structures like columns, beams, slabs and foundations.
• Measure, mark, cut and assemble materials accurately.
• Use hand and power tools safely on site and maintain cleanliness.
• Follow drawings, instructions from supervisors and site safety rules.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform carpentry works, including formwork, shuttering, framing, and general woodwork.
• Install, cut, bend, tie, and fix reinforcement steel according to approved drawings and specifications.
• Prepare and assemble formwork for concrete structures such as columns, beams, slabs, and foundations.
• Measure, mark, cut, and assemble materials accurately.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment safely and correctly.
• Check dimensions, levels, alignment, and positioning of formwork and reinforcement.
• Follow construction drawings, specifications, and instructions from supervisors.
• Maintain proper housekeeping and keep tools and work areas clean.
• Follow all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and site regulations.
• Coordinate with other workers and trades to ensure work is completed according to the project schedule.
• Report material requirements, damaged tools, or unsafe working conditions to the supervisor.
• Perform other construction-related duties as assigned.

Skills

Requirements:

• Previous experience as a Carpenter, Steel Fixer, or Carpenter/Steel Fixer in construction.
• Knowledge of formwork, shuttering, reinforcement steel, and concrete works.
• Ability to read and understand basic construction drawings is preferred.
• Ability to use common carpentry and steel-fixing tools.
• Physically fit and able to work on construction sites.
• Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Relevant trade certification or training is an advantage.
