Role Context The Cardiovascular Technologist provides the technical diagnostic support required for timely identification and monitoring of cardiovascular conditions. Based within a busy community clinic, the position works closely with Cardiologists and referring physicians to perform reliable cardiac investigations, prepare patients correctly, recognize concerning findings, and maintain accurate diagnostic records. The quality of testing performed directly supports clinical decision-making, treatment planning, and continuity of cardiovascular care.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform resting electrocardiograms and produce technically accurate ECG recordings for clinical interpretation.
- Prepare patients correctly for cardiac investigations while explaining each procedure in clear and reassuring language.
- Set up Holter monitoring equipment and provide patients with instructions for safe and accurate ambulatory recording.
- Retrieve and organize Holter monitoring data according to established diagnostic procedures.
- Conduct ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and ensure patients understand equipment use and monitoring requirements.
- Support treadmill ECG and cardiac stress testing under appropriate clinical supervision.
- Monitor patient condition throughout stress testing and immediately communicate concerning symptoms or observations.
- Support echocardiography investigations where appropriate to professional competency and clinical requirements.
- Assist Cardiologists during cardiovascular diagnostic procedures and provide reliable technical support.
- Verify patient identification, clinical requests, and test requirements before beginning investigations.
- Maintain accurate clinical records, test information, observations, and diagnostic documentation.
- Escalate abnormal or potentially urgent findings promptly to the responsible clinical team.
- Apply patient safety procedures throughout cardiovascular testing and respond appropriately to clinical deterioration.
- Check cardiovascular diagnostic equipment routinely and report faults, calibration concerns, or maintenance requirements.
- Maintain equipment and testing areas in accordance with infection prevention and operational standards.
- Follow DHA requirements, internal clinical protocols, quality controls, and patient safety procedures.
- Coordinate with Cardiology, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, Nursing, and other specialties to support efficient referrals and investigations.
- Help maintain effective patient flow and appointment utilization within a high-volume outpatient setting.
- Participate in clinical quality initiatives, competency updates, continuing education, and professional development.
Ideal Profile
This position requires a technically capable Cardiovascular Technologist who combines diagnostic accuracy with attentive patient care and can work confidently alongside Cardiologists in an outpatient setting.
- Bachelor 's Degree in Cardiovascular Technology or a related recognized qualification.
- DHA licensed or DHA eligible as a Cardiovascular Technologist.
- Minimum 2 years of post-qualification professional experience.
- Practical experience within a cardiology department, hospital, outpatient clinic, or diagnostic healthcare environment.
- Demonstrated competence in resting ECG procedures.
- Hands-on experience with Holter monitoring.
- Experience conducting or supporting treadmill cardiac stress testing.
- Competence in ambulatory blood pressure monitoring.
- Echocardiography experience is required.
- Previous experience supporting Cardiologists in an outpatient environment is advantageous.
- Valid BLS certification.
- Strong understanding of patient monitoring and safety during cardiovascular investigations.
- Comfortable working within a multidisciplinary clinical environment.
- Accurate clinical documentation and computer skills.
- Strong patient communication and interpersonal capability.
- Fluent English communication skills.
- Arabic language capability is highly preferred.
- Tagalog language capability is highly preferred.
- Ability to remain attentive and composed when abnormal findings or urgent clinical concerns arise.
