CAPEX Engineer

Job summary

Confidential Company in Abu Dhabi is seeking a CAPEX Engineer to plan, coordinate and manage capital expenditure projects from concept to handover, delivering safely within budgets and timelines. You will work with Engineering, Procurement, Finance and Operations, review drawings and tender documents, monitor costs and ensure compliance with HSE and company standards.

This role requires a mechanical/electrical/civil background, strong budgeting and stakeholder skills, and proficiency with SAP

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil) required.
• Experience in CAPEX project management and facilities management.
• Strong planning, budgeting and cost-control knowledge.
• Ability to read technical drawings and specifications.
• Good knowledge of HSE and quality requirements.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate and develop CAPEX project proposals based on operational and business requirements.
• Prepare project budgets, cost estimates and business cases and capital expenditure requests.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, Finance, Operations and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
• Prepare and review technical specifications, drawings, scopes of work and tender documents.
• Manage contractors, consultants, suppliers and project teams to ensure timely project execution.
• Monitor project costs, schedules, progress and performance against approved CAPEX budgets.
• Review quotations and support the procurement and tendering process.
• Ensure all projects comply with company policies, HSE requirements, engineering standards and applicable regulations.
• Conduct site inspections and monitor construction, installation, commissioning and handover activities.
• Identify project risks and implement appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
• Review invoices, variation orders and payment certificates against approved work and contracts.
• Maintain accurate project documentation, reports and CAPEX records.
• Prepare regular project status reports for management.
• Support project close-out including final documentation, asset handover and budget reconciliation.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings, efficiency improvements and optimization of existing assets.

CAPEX Engineer

Job Purpose

Responsible for planning, coordinating and managing capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects from initial concept through completion. The role ensures projects are delivered safely within approved budgets and timelines and in compliance with company standards and requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Key Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or a related discipline.
• Experience in CAPEX project management, engineering, construction, or facilities management.
• Strong knowledge of project planning, budgeting, procurement, and cost control.
• Ability to read and review technical drawings and specifications.
• Good knowledge of HSE and quality requirements.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools.
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP is an advantage.
