We are seeking a highly experienced BSF Farm Technician or Entomology Technician with a minimum of 4 years in insect rearing, entomology research, or BSF production.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and execute daily operations of the BSF production unit, including egg collection, larvae rearing, and harvesting.
- Monitor and maintain optimal environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, substrate quality) for BSF life cycle stages.
- Develop and implement protocols for insect health, breeding efficiency, and waste‑to‑protein conversion.
- Analyze production data and prepare regular reports to improve yields and reduce mortality rates.
- Supervise junior technicians and provide on‑the‑job training.
- Collaborate with R&D teams on trials, feed formulation, and scaling innovations.
- Ensure biosecurity, hygiene, and workplace safety standards are consistently followed.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Black Soldier Fly farming, OR insect rearing (BSF, houseflies, silkworms, crickets), OR entomology research projects involving live insects.
- Degree or diploma in Entomology, Agriculture, Animal Science, Biological Sciences, or related field.
- Strong understanding of insect biology, life cycles, and farm‑level bioconversion systems.
- Ability to maintain detailed records and analyze biological or operational data.
- Experience working in tropical or sub‑Saharan African climates is an added advantage.
- Comfortable working in farm/lab environments and managing organic waste.
