Your Day to Day

Food and Beverage adds flavour to a stay. Guests enjoy their favourite drink whether with friends, family, colleagues or just on their own. To deliver a great guest experience, a Bartender will prepare beverages and/or serve food in a timely manner, helping guests have memorable experiences whenever and wherever they drink.

Responsibilities
  • Greet guests pleasantly as they approach the bar; promote house drinks and use up‑selling skills to increase revenues
  • Prepare beverages requested by guests using established pouring standards and drink recipes to provide a consistent product and to control costs. Coordinate food service with restaurant(s) for bar/lounge guests if applicable
  • Monitor guest behavior and alcohol consumption to determine when service should cease; notify management of incidents; check identification when age is questionable
  • Follow established hotel safety protocols and procedures at all times. Report any safety/service incident to the supervisor or manager on duty
  • Take action to solve guest problems/complaints using appropriate service recovery guidelines
  • Set up bar including all liquor, mixers, ice, garnishes, glassware and supplies. Perform pre- and post-shift work (ice-bins, garnishments, replenish/store snacks, etc.)
  • Requisition necessary supplies and manage liquor inventory
  • Ensure liquor is properly secured before, during, and at close of shift
  • Receive cash and credit payments; give accurate change and balance cash drawer at end of shift in line with hotel procedures
  • Check bar and seating areas for cleanliness and attractiveness; ensure standards align to company and local legislative standards. Inspect equipment for proper operation. Clean bar area at shift end
  • Work as part of a team and communicate with other departments as per hotel procedures to ensure excellent quality and service
  • Perform other duties as assigned and follow HACCP standards and FIFO/FEFO procedures
Qualifications
  • Minimum 1–2 years’ experience in hotels in a similar position
  • Basic reading and writing; food service experience with general knowledge of bar & restaurant operations preferred
  • Must meet minimum age requirements to serve alcohol per local laws
  • Good command of English, both oral and written
