Job summary

Holiday Inn & Suites Dubai Science Park is seeking a Bar Captain to lead daily bar operations and deliver exceptional guest service in a luxurious, high-volume setting. You will train the bar team, maintain hygiene standards, manage stock, and drive revenue through upselling and promotions.

The role requires 2–3 years in a supervisory bar role within a 4- or 5-star hotel or upscale venue in Dubai/UAE, with strong beverage knowledge and POS system experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–3 years in a Bar Captain, Senior Bartender, or similar supervisory role in a 4- or 5-star hotel, upscale restaurant, or high-volume bar.
• Strong knowledge of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, cocktail preparation, bar operations, stock control, and responsible alcohol service.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to train, motivate and supervise bar team members while maintaining excellent service standards.
• Excellent communication and guest service skills, with the ability to handle guest requests, complaints, and upselling opportunities.
• Good understanding of hygiene, food safety, and UAE hospitality regulations, with proficiency in POS systems and basic inventory management.

Ideally located in the heart of Dubai Science Park, in the most sought after residential area of Dubai. Minutes away from mega malls, magnificent Jumeirah Beaches, world’s leading tourist attractions and Parks, auto drome and over 5 championship golf courses. The Holiday Inn & Suites at Dubai Science Park has 240 hotel rooms and suites and 84 one-bedroom apartments, anchor F&B offerings and an extensive 1026sqm cutting-edge meeting and events facilities.

Your day to day

• Lead and supervise daily bar operations, ensuring all alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are prepared and served in accordance with hotel standards, recipes, and presentation guidelines.

• Deliver exceptional guest service by welcoming guests, taking orders accurately, recommending beverages, handling guest concerns professionally, and ensuring a memorable dining experience.

• Train, coach, and support bar team members to maintain high service standards, product knowledge, beverage quality, and operational efficiency.

• Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety by ensuring the bar area, equipment, and storage spaces comply with Dubai Municipality and hotel requirements.

• Manage inventory and stock control by monitoring beverage levels, conducting stock counts, implementing FIFO procedures, minimizing wastage, and coordinating requisitions to ensure uninterrupted operations.

• Operate and maintain bar equipment, ensuring all tools, glassware, and dispensing systems are in excellent working condition and reporting maintenance issues promptly.

• Process POS transactions accurately, prepare daily sales reports, support cost control initiatives, and assist in achieving revenue targets through upselling and promotional activities.

• Build strong relationships with guests by actively seeking feedback, recognizing repeat customers, and resolving service concerns in a timely and professional manner.

• Ensure compliance with all hotel policies, beverage licensing regulations, safety procedures, and responsible service standards while maintaining a safe working environment.

• Support the Restaurant and Beverage Management team in driving operational excellence, enhancing guest satisfaction, and achieving departmental goals.

Health & Safety

• Use safe manual handling techniques, practice safe work habits following IHG Health, Safety and Environment policies, wear protective clothing provided where necessary and take a consultative role in assisting and maintaining a clean, tidy work area and a healthy and safe working environment.

• Maintain procedures to minimize our impact on the environment and prevent pollution.

• Report any health or safety hazards, faults, repairs, cleaning needs and accidents to your supervisor or the Manager on Duty and record on the appropriate Accident Report form immediately following accident.

• Ensure all equipment is kept in good working order and used only for the purpose for which it was intended. Report all broken or damaged departmental equipment to your supervisor and record on appropriate maintenance report form.

• Contribute to cost control through energy conservation, correct storage of all materials and use of equipment per operating standards and manufacturer’s specifications.

• Be fully conversant with departmental fire and evacuation procedures.

• Take responsibility to ensure all required tasks are completed accurately and within given time frames.

• Participate in scheduled training and development programs provided by the Hotel to improve self and department standards and attend departmental meetings as required.

• Ensure wherever possible that employees are provided with a work place free of discrimination, harassment and victimization.

• Follow property procedures with respect to grooming, performance and conduct standards, occupational health and safety, emergency procedures and all other property policies and procedures as detailed in the employee handbook / department procedure manuals / company policy manuals.

• Ensure Hotel, Customer and Staff information or transactions are kept confidential during or after employment with the company.

• Any other reasonable request within your range of competence as required by your supervisor or Hotel Management.
