Job summary

Aleroy in the United Arab Emirates is seeking a Backend Engineer to build the APIs and services behind our AI platform. You’ll work mainly with TypeScript and Node.js on features like authentication, organizations, API keys, usage, and billing, collaborating with product, frontend, and infra engineers.

You’ll design PostgreSQL schemas, implement REST APIs, and build reliable systems with testing and monitoring. Nice-to-have Go, Redis, Docker, and CI/CD experience.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional backend development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with TypeScript and Node.js.
• Experience designing, building, and maintaining REST APIs.
• Good working knowledge of PostgreSQL, including schema design, indexes, and transactions.
• Understanding of asynchronous programming, error handling, and external API integrations.
• Experience implementing authentication, authorization, and secure handling of user data and credentials.
• Ability to write useful automated tests and troubleshoot production issues.
• Clear communication and the ability to turn product requirements into working backend features.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Backend Engineer to build the APIs and services behind our AI platform.
You’ll work primarily with TypeScript and Node.js on features such as accounts, organizations, access management, API keys, usage, and billing. You’ll collaborate with product, frontend, and infrastructure engineers to take features from requirements to production. We value practical engineering: clear code, reliable behavior, and sensible technical decisions. Experience with Go is strongly encouraged. Previous work in AI or LLM inference is welcome but not required.

What You Will Own

Backend development

• Build and maintain backend services and REST APIs using TypeScript and Node.js.

• Implement product features, including authentication, permissions, organizations, projects, and API key management.

• Work with frontend engineers to define clear API contracts and handle loading, errors, and edge cases.

• Deliver features through implementation, testing, release, and follow-up improvements.

Data and integrations

• Design PostgreSQL schemas, write migrations, and improve queries where needed.

• Integrate usage reporting, billing, and external services.

• Build background jobs and handle retries, duplicate events, and failed requests safely.

• Use caching and queues where they solve a concrete problem.

Reliability and quality

• Write automated tests for important workflows and failure cases.

• Diagnose issues using logs and metrics, and fix their underlying causes.

• Keep code readable, document key decisions, and contribute to code reviews.

• Work with infrastructure and inference engineers to connect product services with model-serving systems.

About You

• 3 years+ of professional backend development experience.

• Strong hands-on experience with TypeScript and Node.js.

• Experience designing, building, and maintaining REST APIs.

• Good working knowledge of PostgreSQL, including schema design, indexes, and transactions.

• Understanding of asynchronous programming, error handling, and external API integrations.

• Experience implementing authentication, authorization, and secure handling of user data and credentials.

• Ability to write useful automated tests and troubleshoot production issues.

• Clear communication and the ability to turn product requirements into working backend features.

Nice to Have

• Go experience is strongly preferred, including the ability to read, maintain, or build services in Go.

• Experience with Redis, message queues, or background workers.

• Familiarity with payments, usage-based billing, or webhook integrations.

• Experience with Docker and CI/CD workflows.

• Experience building SaaS products or developer-facing APIs.

• Familiarity with AI APIs, streaming responses, or long-running requests.
