Job summary

AIQ, an Abu Dhabi-based technology company, seeks a Backend Engineer specializing in API development to architect and build scalable APIs and collaborate with cross-functional teams. You will drive API design, database modeling, and cloud deployment while leveraging AI-assisted tooling to accelerate delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience with API development.
• Proficiency in backend languages such as Node.js and Python.
• Strong experience with web frameworks like Express.js and FastAPI.
• Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB).
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS).
• Strong background in CI/CD, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Comfort using AI-assisted development tools and reviewing AI-generated code.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and develop scalable RESTful APIs.
• Design and optimize database schemas and queries.
• Deploy and manage API infrastructure in the cloud; ensure security and reliability.
• Build robust CI/CD pipelines and containerize apps with Docker; orchestrate with Kubernetes.
• Optimize API performance and implement caching and profiling techniques.
• Collaborate with product, frontend, and QA teams; mentor junior engineers.
• Lead by example in code quality, testing, and documentation.
