Job summary

EDIC Horizon in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi United Arab Emirates, is seeking an experienced Flight Instructor to deliver high-quality rotary wing training in accordance with GCAA regulations.

The role requires extensive flight hours, an instructor rating, and currency in English. You will mentor students, maintain training records, and contribute to syllabus improvements while upholding safety and information-security standards.

Qualifications

  • University degree or higher required.
  • Fluent in English speaking and writing (ELP level 4 minimum).
  • Valid class 1 medical with no restrictions.
  • Professional pilot license and rating(s) related to the flying training courses; instructor rating endorsed in license.
  • At least 2000 flying hours with minimum 500 instructional hours and ab-initio training experience.
  • Holds CPL/IR/H or ATPL/H.
  • Previous FI/H experience in an ATO (military or civilian).
  • Flight currency within the last year.
  • Comfortable to instruct in English.
  • NVG experience is a plus.
  • High level of instructional techniques.
  • Computer literate (MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
  • Advanced knowledge in CPL and ATPL.
  • Moderate knowledge of CAR OPS, AIP, CAAP and EASA.
  • Familiar with Compliance Monitoring Systems, Safety management system and EHS.
  • Not involved in any accident or serious incident or ATC incident in last 5 years.
  • Teamwork; Problem solving; Punctuality; Flexibility; Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Maintain self-discipline and student discipline.

Description

To deliver high-quality rotary wing flight training in accordance with GCAA regulations and Horizon operational standards, ensuring students develop the required flying skills, technical knowledge, professionalism, and airmanship necessary to become competent and professional helicopter pilots.

Responsibilities and Authorization

  • Conduct helicopter flight and ground instruction in accordance with the approved training syllabus.
  • Ensure compliance with Horizon and GCAA standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Evaluate and grade student performance, ensuring accurate records and logbooks are maintained.
  • Act as a course mentor when assigned and provide guidance on professional standards and aviation values.
  • Promote safety, compliance, and professionalism at all times.
  • Report incidents, non-compliances, or suggested improvements to the Chief Flight Instructor.
  • Maintain Horizon resources—aircraft, simulators, and facilities—in a safe and orderly condition.
  • Support continuous improvement of the training syllabus and instructional delivery.
  • To comply & implement the ISMS, PIMS & ITGC Policies, identify critical information assets, conduct information security risk assessment, protect personal information (staff & students), select controls to reduce risk to information assets and validate existing controls.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications, Certification and Education

  • Has graduated from university, college or high school and holds at least a degree.
  • Fluent in English speaking and writing (ELP level 4 minimum)
  • Has a valid class 1 medical with no restrictions
  • To hold and maintain at all time:
  • A professional pilot license and rating(s) related to the flying training courses he is appointed to conduct; plus
  • An instructor rating endorses in his license, relevant to the part of the course being conducted e.g. instrument rating instructor, flight instructor, and type rating instructor, as appropriate.
  • Has at least 2000 flying hours of which at least 500 hours instructional and has conducted ab-initio training.
  • Holds license (CPL IR/H or ATPL/H).
  • A previous experience as FI/H in an ATO (military or civilian) is essential.
  • He should have flight currency within the last year.
  • He should be comfortable to instruct in English.
  • Hold a valid class 1 medical.
  • NVG experience is plus.
