Job summary

AirQ in Abu Dhabi is seeking an experienced R&D Technician – Avionics to build, wire, test and maintain electrical systems for UAV prototypes and related ground equipment. You will collaborate with avionics engineers from the first prototype through flight test and help transfer designs to production.

The role requires hands-on assembly, documentation, and training of assembly staff, with field support at UAE test sites.

Qualifications

• Diploma or equivalent in electronics/avionics.
• Minimum 3 years hands-on electronics/avionics assembly experience.
• Willingness to work in Masdar City, Abu Dhabi and UAE test sites.

Responsibilities

• Prototype Build and Integration: build harnesses, install avionics in airframes and ground systems, assemble ground equipment, route cables and perform soldering per instructions.
• Test, Calibration and Field Support: perform tests, load firmware, calibrate sensors/actuators, support ground/flight tests, report issues.
• Maintenance and Configuration Control: keep prototypes ready for test, maintain records of firmware/parameters, revisions.
• Bridge to Production: build pilot units with assembly, write photo-based work instructions, train production staff and support with technical problems.
• Workshop, Safety and Quality: maintain clean workshop, follow safety rules, ensure calibration of tools.
