Job summary

Dheya in Masdar City, United Arab Emirates, seeks a hands-on R&D Technician - Mechanical to build, test and maintain mechanical systems for UAV prototypes. You will work with engineers from first prototype to flight test, and help transfer designs to production with jigs, work instructions and staff training.

The role requires 3+ years in mechanical assembly, composite work or aircraft maintenance, plus experience reading drawings and tolerances, and basic CAD/tools proficiency.

Qualifications

• Diploma or technical certificate in mechanical engineering or a related field.
• At least 3 years of hands-on mechanical assembly, composites, or aircraft maintenance experience.
• Experience with UAV/aerospace propulsion or related systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assemble airframes and structures from drawings and BOMs (fuselages, wings, tails, landing gear).
• Bond parts with structural adhesives and document batch data and cure times.
• Perform composite lay‑ups, vacuum bagging, trimming and repairs on carbon/glass parts.
• Install and align mechanisms, fasteners, propulsion parts and ground equipment.
• Measure parts with calipers, micrometers and other tools; report non-conformances.
• Support prototype tests, collect data, and assist transfer to production with jigs and work instructions.
• Train assembly staff on bonding, torque, and weight/CG considerations; sign off on competency.
