Job summary

Serco Group in Dubai Airports is seeking an Assistant Technician for Airfield Civil Work Mason to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on masonry tasks within the airfield civil works section, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.

The role requires reading civil drawings, following safety standards, and delivering maintenance on roads, runways, pavements, and related assets. Collaboration with teams and engineers is essential for timely and quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• High School Certificate or equivalent.
• ITI certificate/diploma in road and street work maintenance or equivalent.
• IOSH Working Safely certificate.
• Current UAE driving licence is desirable.
• Minimum three years of civil works experience (roads/airfield).
• Airport experience is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Conform to general and technical safety requirements at all times to ensure health, safety and welfare of self and others at work.
• Read, interpret and describe the functionality of civil works drawings (schematic & layout).
• Maintain assets (roads, airfield pavements, gullies, concrete slabs, modular surfaces) as part of a team or solo.
• Provide maintenance: preventive, breakdown troubleshooting, inspections, condition assessments, and corrective actions.
• Carry out pavement and road repair works on the airfield; seal joints and perform texture and polishing; install dressed stone and mix cement/mortar; restore masonry.
• Perform minor repairs on floors and walls; prepare sub-base and road base using non-bituminous materials; lay bituminous materials as needed.
• Engage with staff and customers, understand needs, and act with urgency to resolve issues with integrity.
• Support change and transformation in the workplace by guiding others and pursuing learning opportunities.

We are looking for Assistant Technician- Airfield Civil Work Mason to carryout preventative, corrective and breakdown maintenance on masonry related tasks individually or as part of a technical team, within the airfield civil works section, whilst ensuring minimal disruption to the facilities operations.

The role will be based in Dubai Airports.

Key accountabilities

• Ability to conform to all general and technical safety requirements at all times to ensure the health, safety & welfare of self and others at work
• Can read interpret and describe the functionality of civil works drawings (schematic & layout drawing)
• Major assets below, but not limited to:Roads,Airfield (Runways, Taxiways, etc.),Pavements,Aircraft Parking stands,Gullies and gutters,Concrete slabsandModular surfaces and concrete footways
• Provide different maintenanceto Assets, in the capacity as team member and solo;Periodic Preventive Maintenance,Breakdown Trouble Shooting,Inspections,Condition Assessment,Condition Based Maintenance,Corrective MaintenanceandConfiguration and Modifications
• Deliver tasks such as, but not limited to;Pavement repair works on the airfield,Road repair works,Conduct inspections to determine the need for repair,Sealing of expanding or contracting joints with caulking materials,Texturing and polishing, installing dressed stone, mixing cement and mortar,and restoring old and damaged masonry works.
• Minor repair works on floors and walls,Preparation of Sub base and road base in non-bituminous materials,Cold lay of bituminous materialsandHot lay of bituminous materials
• Sees those they interact with as customers and seeks to identify and meet needs, taking swift action to resolve issues with integrity. Always alert to the customer’s point of view and demonstrates a sense of urgency.
• Facilitates the implementation and acceptance of change and transformation within the workplace by guiding others and helping them adapt.

Specific requirements

• High School Certificate and be trained in an appropriate field related to the specific work area.
• Industrial Training Institute Certificate / Diploma in road and street work operativemaintenance or equivalent (post high school)
• IOSH Working Safely Certificate or equivalent
• Current valid UAE driving licence is desirable
• Minimum three (3) year experience within a civil works (road and street works) or similar environment.
• Airport experience is considered as added advantage for this position
• Ability to communicate with staff, stakeholders and customers in oral and written English.
