Job summary

AECOM Advisory seeks an Associate to join the Risk Management team, delivering complex projects with minimal direction while guiding one or more project teams across advisory activities. The role requires strong analytical, communication and creative skills, plus capability to chair risk meetings and present mitigation strategies.

Desirable knowledge includes handling risk in Middle East construction, familiarity with risk software, and expertise in quantitative cost risk assessment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 12 years relevant post-education experience.
  • Bachelor’s (and preferably Master’s) in construction/infrastructure discipline.
  • Deep knowledge of Middle East design and construction projects.
  • Experience in risk management across building and infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to chair risk meetings and lead project teams.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate, manage and coordinate risk management activities across all stages of projects.
  • Chair / facilitate risk management meetings.
  • Coordinate with clients, engineers, contractors and consultancy team members on risk management activities at all levels.
  • Monitor risk registers and trends across multiple projects within a program of works.
  • Advise clients on risk management strategies and appropriate mitigation plans.
  • Lead and deliver all aspects of services from inception of a project through to completion.

Job Description

AECOM Advisory integrates management consulting with infrastructure expertise. We’re the largest infrastructure professional services firm to bring truly in-house management consulting services to our clients.

We are currently seeking an Associate to join our Risk Management team which forms part of our Advisory business, and we are looking for highly motivated applicants who possess outstanding analytical, communication and creative skills.

As an Associate, you will undertake the delivery of complex projects across the full spectrum of advisory activities under minimal direction while managing a team and leading one or more project teams, delivering consulting services across a cross section of areas.

Other practice areas within our Advisory business includes Asset, Project Monitoring, P3 Technical, Program, Strategy+, Procurement and Construction Business Intelligence services, allowing the successful candidate an opportunity to collaborate across our Advisory team and advise our clients on a wide range of projects across built asset and infrastructure sectors.

Desirable Knowledge and Expertise

Candidates will be expected to possess deep expertise in one or more of the following:

  • Good working knowledge of Middle East design and construction projects, conditions of contract and contractual issues.
  • Demonstrable skills in the implementation and monitoring of project risk management on building and infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with risks associated with new and refurbishment projects.
  • Excellent knowledge of project risks associated throughout the project life cycle, together with experience of preparing and implementing suitable risk management strategies.
  • Must be capable of chairing risk meetings and following up with project team members at all levels.
  • Familiarity with risk management software used for recording and reporting risk.
  • Demonstratable skill in quantitative cost risk assessment (Monte Carlo).
  • Specific risk management qualification would be preferred.

Technical Skills Range

Candidates will be expected to possess skills in one or more of the following:

  • Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Visio, Excel, Tableau, Power BI data manipulation and analytics.
  • Web based data analytics, visualization and presentation software.
  • Project management, project work planning, scheduling and resource deployment.
  • Business development, market planning and client relationships.
  • Space programming, user research, design strategy and conceptual design.
  • Revit, GIS, Python or other space planning / design CAD systems.

Outline of Duties

Working as a collaborative team member, this individual will be responsible for:

  • Initiate, manage and coordinate risk management activities across all stages of projects.
  • Chair / facilitate risk management meetings.
  • Coordinate with clients, engineers, contractors and consultancy team members on risk management activities at all levels.
  • Monitor risk registers and trends across multiple projects within a program of works.
  • Create and maintain risk registers for projects (in formats approved by the clients).
  • Advise clients on risk management strategies and appropriate mitigation plans.
  • Work with the team to provide cost information to enable quantitative assessment of risks.
  • Recommend adjustments to risk registers (as necessary).
  • Advise clients on Risk Management best practices and improvements.
  • Lead and deliver all aspects of services from inception of a project through to completion.
  • Achieve the highest standards of professional competence and to demonstrate this ability in all dealings with clients and professional contacts, reinforcing the profile of the company.
  • Drive performance standards and technical excellence through expert communication and effective use of the performance management process and AECOM technical practice networks.
  • Maintain and develop good relationships with clients, take every opportunity to uphold and increase the profile of the firm as a provider of professional, premium quality services to the construction industry.
  • Actively support the internal team and manage more junior staff on technically complex projects.
  • As an Associate you will also be actively involved developing marketing opportunities and where appropriate bring to the attention of Directors and the Business Development Department, in order that they may assist in following up potential leads enabling the development of new business.
