Job summary

Element Materials Technology in Dubai is seeking an Assistant Laboratory Technician to support site operations with sampling, testing and transport of fresh concrete specimens.

You will assist in making slump tests, temperature checks, molding/casting, and ensuring environmental controls while maintaining a clean lab and accurate specimen labeling.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift and carry concrete molds and equipment up to 25 kg
• Strong work ethic and punctuality for timely site testing
• Basic English to follow instructions and label specimens accurately

Responsibilities

• On-site assistance: support the Senior Technician in collecting fresh concrete samples from mixers
• Perform slump tests and temperature checks for each batch
• Mold and cast concrete cubes and cylinders; ensure molds are cleaned, oiled and assembled
• Safely transport heavy concrete specimens from site to curing tanks
• Maintain curing tanks at 22C to 25C and ensure cleanliness
• Clean testing tools after use to prevent concrete buildup
• Keep the laboratory environment organized and orderly

Overview

We are looking for a hardworking and reliable Assistant Laboratory Technician to support our site operations. You will be responsible for sampling testing and transportation of fresh concrete specimens. This is a vital role in maintaining the quality and integrity of the samples.

This position will be based in Dubai UAE (Site Based).

Responsibilities

• On-Site Assistance: Support the Senior Technician in collecting fresh concrete samples from mixers according to ASTM/BS or BSEN methods
• Workability Testing: Prepare equipment and assist in performing Slump Tests and Temperature Checks for every batch
• Molding & Casting: Help cast concrete cubes and cylinders; ensure molds are cleaned oiled and properly assembled before use
• Specimen Management: Safely transport heavy concrete specimens from the site to the curing tanks
• Curing Tank Maintenance: Ensure curing tanks are filled clean and maintained at the required temperature of 22C to 25C
• Equipment Care: Clean all testing tools (slump cones rods base plates) immediately after use to prevent concrete buildup
• General Housekeeping: Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment

Skills / Qualifications

• Physical Strength: Must be able to lift and carry concrete molds and equipment (up to 25kg) throughout the day
• Reliability: Strong work ethic and punctuality as site testing must happen exactly when the concrete arrives
• Communication: Basic English to follow instructions and label specimens accurately
