Job summary

A leading oil and gas company in Abu Dhabi is seeking an Electrician (Rig) to perform routine checks and minor repairs on electrical equipment. The ideal candidate has a Diploma in electric technology, 2 years of experience in industrial electrical maintenance, and a good command of English. This role involves assisting in rig activities and compliance with safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Completion of Secondary education followed by 2 years study leading to a Diploma in electric technology.
  • 2 years' experience in maintenance and repair of industrial electrical equipment.
  • Good knowledge of spoken and written English.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine checks and undertake minor repairs on electrical equipment.
  • Participate in remedial and preventive maintenance on assigned rig.
  • Assist in the installation of cables for electricity and telephones.
  • Participate in rig moves by checking assigned items from the rig moves preparation list.
  • Comply with all ADNOC and client Asset Integrity Management codes.

Skills

Job description
JOB PURPOSE

Carry out routine checks and undertake minor repairs on electrical equipment and to participate in remedial and preventive maintenance on an assigned rig and to become familiar with the role and activities of the Electrician (Rig).

Job Specific Accountabilities

Undertakes checks on specific items of electrical equipment at an assigned location and in accordance with an established schedule and verbal instructions to ensure their correct functioning.

Reports to Electrician (Rig) any items that are functioning incorrectly or are not functioning. Undertakes repairs to such equipment when requested by electrician. Such items include air conditioning units, refrigerators, lighting equipment and derrick lights and electric motor belts. Checks and tops up batteries when necessary.

Participates in the investigating of breakdowns by assisting in the isolating and stripping down of equipment using pullers, bearing presses and the like.

Assists in the installation of such as cables for electricity and telephones, assisting and becoming familiar with the records and drawings that must be maintained after each activity.

Participates in rig moves by checking assigned items from the rig moves preparation list and assists in the disconnection / reconnection of electrical equipment as instructed. Stands by to assist in providing power when necessary.

Performs the duties and responsibilities in the implementation of the Company's integrated Health and Safety Environmental Program and Asset Integrity Management Systems identified and defined in the following page.

Performs related duties as assigned, such as powering off or powering up items of equipment when requested, cleaning lamps and electrical panels.

Comply with all UAE, ADNOC, ADNOC Drilling and client Asset Integrity Management codes of practice.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Minimum Qualification

Completion of Secondary (12 years) education followed by 2 years' full time study leading to a Diploma in electric technology.

Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills

2 years' experience in maintenance and repair of industrial electrical equipment including some exposure to high voltage AC / DC supplies.

Good knowledge of spoken and written English.
