Job summary

WSP Global Inc. in Abu Dhabi is seeking an Assistant Resident Engineer - Electrical to lead overhead transmission line projects from initiation to closeout, ensuring schedules, budget adherence and objective attainment while coordinating with internal teams and clients.

The role requires a bachelor’s in electrical engineering, at least 8 years’ experience in OHL projects and proficiency with PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE and AutoCAD. Travel and flexible hours are expected to meet project needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical engineering or related field.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in electrical engineering with a focus on overhead transmission line projects.
• Extensive knowledge of transmission line design, construction and maintenance practices.
• Proficiency in engineering software such as PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE and AutoCAD.
• Willingness to travel to project sites and work flexible hours.
• Expertise in reinforced concrete foundations, geotechnical investigations, tower spotting and stringing logistics.
• Strong project management skills to develop and execute plans and mitigate risks.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management to build client relationships.
• Leadership qualities to motivate project teams and ensure safety and quality.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day electrical construction activities for OHL projects.
• Inspect OHL works including tower erection, conductor and earthwire, OPGW stringing, insulator installation and earthing.
• Ensure works follow approved drawings, specifications, method statements and ITPs.
• Review electrical drawings, shop drawings, material submittals and documentation.
• Conduct site inspections, monitor progress and HSE compliance.
• Witness and verify electrical inspections, testing and commissioning.
• Coordinate with contractors, suppliers and multidisciplinary teams to resolve issues.
• Support permits, shutdowns, access requirements and work permits for electrical activities.
• Monitor progress against programme and report delays or risks.
• Maintain and review project documentation and close-out requirements.
• Attend progress meetings and follow up on electrical actions.
• Ensure compliance with UAE TAQA HSE, quality and electrical safety requirements.
• Provide technical support to Resident Engineer and Project Manager.
• Promote safety, quality and professionalism on site.

As a Assistant Resident Engineer - Electrical you will required to support in leading and manage all aspects of overhead transmission line projects from initiation to closeout ensuring adherence to project objectives schedules and budgets You will collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to develop project plans including scope definition resource allocation and risk management strategies

• Extensive knowledge of transmission line design construction and maintenance practices including tower configurations
• Proficiency in relevant engineering software and tools such as PLS-CADD PLS-POLE and AutoCAD
• Willingness to travel to project sites as needed and work flexible hours to accommodate project requirements
• Expertise in reinforced concrete foundations geotechnical investigation tower spotting and stringing logistics
• Excellent project management skills including the ability to develop and execute project plans manage resources and mitigate project risks

Assist the Resident Engineer in supervising day-to-day electrical construction activities for OHL projects Inspect OHL works including tower erection conductor and earthwire OPGW stringing insulator installation earthing and associated electrical works Ensure works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings specifications Method Statements ITPs and project requirements Review electrical drawings shop drawings material submittals Method Statements and other technical documentation Conduct regular site inspections and monitor quality progress and HSE compliance Witness and verify electrical inspections testing and commissioning activities as required Coordinate with contractors suppliers and multidisciplinary teams to resolve technical and site-related issues Support coordination of Permits NOCs shutdowns access requirements and work permits required for electrical activities Monitor contractor progress against the approved programme and report delays risks or technical issues to the Resident Engineer Maintain and review project documentation including RFIs NCRs inspection requests test reports and material records Attend progress and coordination meetings and follow up on electrical-related actions Ensure compliance with applicable UAE TAQA HSE quality and electrical safety requirements Review as-built drawings testing and commissioning records handover documentation and project close-out requirements Provide technical support to the Resident Engineer Project Manager and assist in resolving electrical construction and interface issues Promote a strong culture of safety quality and professionalism throughout project execution
