GMG is seeking an Assistant Manager - Tax to manage corporate income tax and indirect tax matters across GCC, Egypt, India, and other jurisdictions. Approximately 75% of the time will be on corporate tax including tax filings, provisioning, reporting, audits, and transfer pricing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Law or related field; Master’s preferred.

  • Professional qualifications such as CA, ACCA, CPA, CMA, CTA preferred.

Job description

The Assistant Manager - Tax will support the Group's direct and indirect tax matters across GCC, Egypt, India, and other relevant jurisdictions. Approximately 75% of the role will focus on corporate income tax, including tax compliance, return filings, tax computations, current and deferred tax provisioning, tax reporting, assessments, audits, transaction support, and tax risk management. Transfer pricing and cross-border tax matters will form part of the corporate income tax responsibilities, where relevant. The remaining approximately 25% will focus on indirect tax, primarily VAT and GST compliance and advisory, including return reviews, reconciliations, transaction assessments, audits, and regulatory updates. The role requires strong corporate tax knowledge, commercial awareness, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with finance, legal, business, and external advisory teams.

Key Success Drivers including Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare, review, and support timely filing of corporate income tax returns, tax computations, supporting schedules, and related statutory submissions across relevant jurisdictions.
  • Support current and deferred tax provisioning, effective tax rate analysis, tax account reconciliations, and tax disclosures for financial reporting.
  • Maintain corporate tax compliance calendars and coordinate with local finance teams and external advisors to ensure that filing, payment, and documentation deadlines are met.
  • Assess the corporate income tax implications of business transactions, contracts, restructurings, financing arrangements, new entities, and changes in operating models.
  • Support corporate tax audits, assessments, information requests, objections, appeals, and correspondence with tax authorities.
  • Prepare and maintain robust tax working papers, technical analyses, tax positions, reconciliations, and audit trails in accordance with statutory and internal requirements.
  • Support tax forecasting, cash tax planning, budget processes, management reporting, statutory audits, and tax risk reviews.
  • Coordinate with finance, legal, treasury, business teams, statutory auditors, and external advisors on corporate income tax matters and transaction implementation.
  • Identify corporate tax risks and legally compliant tax optimization opportunities and support the implementation of relevant controls and mitigation actions.
  • Support transfer pricing compliance and related-party transaction reviews, including intercompany agreements, transfer pricing documentation, and coordination of local file, master file, and country-by-country reporting requirements, where applicable.
  • Provide support on withholding tax, tax treaty, permanent establishment, and other cross-border corporate tax matters, where relevant.
  • Review VAT/ GST returns and related reconciliations across GCC, Egypt, India, and other relevant jurisdictions to help ensure timely and accurate compliance.
  • Assess VAT/ GST implications of contracts, supply chains, cross-border transactions, new business initiatives, and changes in operating
  • Strong technical knowledge of corporate income tax principles, compliance requirements, and tax reporting, with the ability to apply legislation to commercial transactions and business scenarios.
  • Practical experience in preparing corporate tax returns, tax computations, supporting schedules, tax payments, and statutory documentation.
  • Good understanding of current and deferred tax accounting, tax provisioning, effective tax rate analysis, tax account reconciliations, and financial statement disclosures.
  • Ability to assess the corporate income tax implications of contracts, restructurings, financing arrangements, new entities, cross-border transactions, and changes in business models.
  • Experience in supporting corporate tax audits, assessments, tax authority information requests, objections, and controversy matters.
  • Ability to interpret tax legislation, regulations, and guidance and translate technical requirements into clear, practical business advice.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify tax risks, process gaps, control weaknesses, and legally compliant tax planning opportunities.
  • Working knowledge of transfer pricing, related-party transactions, intercompany agreements, and documentation requirements.
  • Working knowledge of withholding tax, tax treaties, permanent establishment, and other cross-border corporate tax considerations.
  • Good understanding of VAT/GST principles and practical experience in return review, reconciliations, transaction analysis, documentation, and audit support in GCC.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle, tax compliance tools, and reporting platforms.
  • Advanced Excel skills for tax computations, provisioning, data analysis, reconciliations, and management reporting.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines across jurisdictions.
Educational Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Law, or a related field. A Master's degree is an advantage.

Experience:

Minimum 5-7 years of relevant tax experience, with substantial hands-on exposure to corporate income tax and practical experience in VAT/ GST compliance. Prior experience in a multinational, regional, large corporate, or professional services environment is preferred.

Certifications:

Professional qualification such as CA, ACCA, CPA, CMA, CTA, or an equivalent qualification is preferred.
