Job summary

Kerzner International's Atlantis The Palm seeks an experienced Assistant Manager – Automation to maintain and enhance automation systems for water rides, ALSS, and facilities. You will own PLC/HMI software, diagnose faults, and coordinate OEMs and system integrators to ensure reliability and lifecycle planning.

Required: 10–12 years in industrial automation, strong PLC/HMI skills, and experience with ABB/Siemens/PowerFlex/Danfoss drives and industrial networks.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Diploma in Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation/Mechatronics/Automation engineering.
  • Minimum 10–12 years of hands-on experience in industrial automation and control systems.
  • Proven PLC programming, troubleshooting, commissioning, and industrial electrical systems experience.
  • Experience in critical operational environments; ALSS or water attractions is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain safe, reliable operation of automation and control systems for waterrides and attractions.
  • Troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, instrumentation, electrical control systems, and networks.
  • Develop, modify, test, and maintain PLC/HMI software.
  • Support commissioning, SAT, functional testing, and post-commissioning troubleshooting.
  • Coordinate with OEMs, suppliers, and system integrators for upgrades and support.

About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Manager - Automation with a minimum of 10–12 years of hands-on experience in industrial automation, control systems, and electrical troubleshooting. The role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, improving, and supporting automation systems related to water rides, attractions, Animal Life Support Systems (ALSS), and associated facility infrastructure. The successful candidate should have strong practical experience in PLC systems, industrial communicationnetworks, VFDs, electrical control systems, commissioning support, preventive maintenance, and reliabilityimprovement. The role also requires ownership of technical documentation, control system integrity, OEMcoordination, critical spares, compliance support, and team competency development.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of automation and control systems supporting waterrides, attractions, ALSS, and associated facility systems.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and rectify faults in PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, instrumentation, electrical controlsystems, safety circuits, and industrial communication networks.
  • Develop,modify, test, andmaintainPLC/HMI software.
  • Perform commissioning, SAT support, functional testing, software validation, and post-commissioningtroubleshooting.
  • Analyze drawings, schematics, I/O lists, and network architectures to resolve system issues.
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) andmaintaintechnical records.
  • Develop and improve preventive maintenance strategies, inspection checklists, and automationstandards.
  • Maintain software backups, revision history, fault logs, and engineering documentation.
  • Provide recommendations for replacement, retrofit, modernization, and lifecycle improvements.
  • Support CAPEX/OPEX planning and automation asset lifecycle management.
  • Coordinate with OEMs, suppliers, and system integrators for troubleshooting, upgrades, retrofit works,and technical support.
  • Configure andmaintainindustrial communication networks.
  • Manage criticalautomationspare parts and inventory.
  • Support inspections, audits, and certification-related activities.
  • Provide technical support during breakdowns and planned shutdowns.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Electrical, Mechanical, MEP, and ALSS teams.
About You
  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation,
  • Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, ora relateddiscipline.
  • Minimum 10–12 years of hands-on experience in industrial automation and control systems.
  • Proven experience in PLC programming, troubleshooting, commissioning, and industrial electricalsystems.
  • Experience working in critical operational environments.
  • Experience with water rides, amusement attractions, aquatic facilities, or ALSS will be highly regarded.
  • Variable Frequency Drives: ABB, Siemens,PowerFlex, Danfoss, or similar.
  • Industrial Communication Networks:EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, PROFIBUS, Modbus TCP/IP, ModbusRTU, OPC, or similar.
  • Electrical & Control Systems: MCCs, control panels, instrumentation, power distribution, and controlschematics.
  • Automation Documentation: Software backups, fault logs, RCA records, and technical documentation.
  • Reliability & Asset Management: Preventive maintenance, lifecycle planning, critical spares, retrofit,obsolescence, and CAPEX/OPEX support.
