GEMS FirstPoint School is looking for Assistant Head Teacher- Pastoral Care for a January 2026/April 2026 start.

An Assistant Head Teacher- Pastoral Care is a school leader responsible for a student's overall well-being, beyond academics. Key duties include managing student behavior, overseeing safeguarding and child protection, leading well-being initiatives, supporting students with diverse needs, and training staff on these policies and practices

Key responsibilities
  • Student behavior: Develop and maintain behavior systems, analyze key metrics, and advise on related policies to foster a positive learning environment.
  • Safeguarding and child protection: Act as the primary point person for child protection, ensuring robust systems are in place, investigating incidents, and leading the team to protect children from harm.
  • Student well-being: Create and implement a school-wide well-being strategy to help students reach their highest potential. This can include addressing mental health needs and fostering a sense of belonging.
  • Inclusion and support: Oversee the identification and support of students with various learning and pastoral needs, including monitoring Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Staff training: Train and equip staff to effectively implement pastoral care strategies, ensuring consistency across the school.
  • Leadership and policy: Work as part of the school's executive team, develop and maintain school policies related to pastoral care, and ensure they align with best practices.
