Job summary

New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks an Arts Technical Specialist of Video Projection and Lighting (Open Rank) to support exhibitions, events, and academic programs within the Arts & Humanities Division.

The role requires setup/operation of AV systems, troubleshooting during events, and collaboration with faculty and students to bring creative projects to life. Applicants should possess a related bachelor's degree and strong Qlab/video-mapping tool expertise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in video projection and lighting systems.
• Knowledge of DMX, MIDI and OSC communication protocols.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience with lighting/video equipment in gallery/exhibition settings and live events.
• Excellent knowledge of Qlab required.
• Familiarity with video-mapping tools such as Mad Mapper, Resolume, and Touch Designer.
• Woodworking skills and fabrication knowledge are optional.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate video projection and lighting systems for exhibitions and performances.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and provide on-the-spot solutions during events.
• Collaborate with faculty and students to integrate technology into creative projects.
• Manage equipment inventory and ensure maintenance and repair.
• Stay current with tech advancements and recommend upgrades.
• Assist in procurement of audiovisual equipment for academic/research needs.
• Coordinate and schedule equipment usage for events and exhibitions.
• Support educational needs across Arts Practice, Film & New Media, Interactive Media, Music, Theater, and MFA programs.
