Job summary

Hapag-Lloyd AG in Dubai seeks an Area Financial Controller to partner with country leaders, ensure financial integrity, compliance, and performance, and act as primary financial advisor for the region.

You will oversee monthly closings, P&L, balance sheet, intercompany, audits, tax compliance, and provide detailed variance analyses, budgeting, and cash management across the UAE and other countries in scope.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in finance or accounting within shipping or maritime.
• Degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA, CA, ACCA or CMA preferred.
• Strong analytical and statistical skill.

Responsibilities

• Oversight of country financials, including P&L and Balance Sheet
• Support for group and regional policies and initiatives
• Cash repatriation, financial statement audits, and risk management
• Budgeting and forecasting
• Ad-hoc financial analysis and project support
• Tax and compliance matters
• Timely escalation of issues to the regional team
• Financial Reporting & Control: ensure timely, accurate closings per scope countries
• Business Analysis & Performance Management: variance analyses and planning alignment
• Cash Management & Repatriation: monitor liquidity and overdue receivables
• Statutory Compliance, Audit & Tax: coordinate audits and tax compliance
• Governance & Internal Control: adherence to policies and controls
• Country Support & Stakeholder Management: coaching and policy clarification
