The Department of Arabic and Translation Studies at American University of Sharjah (AUS) invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in Fall 2027, subject to budgetary approval. The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D.

Qualifications

• PhD in Arabic Studies, Arabic Literature, Arabic Heritage, or allied areas.
• Willingness and ability to teach entry level Arabic heritage courses.
• Ability to offer courses on the history, culture and society of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a plus.
• Candidates should indicate interests, qualifications or experiences related to course and program design/development.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate courses in Arabic Studies.
• Engage in scholarly research and publish in relevant journals.
• Contribute to curriculum design and programme development.
• Provide mentorship and supervision to students and collaborate with colleagues.
