Job description
JOB PURPOSE

To monitor system error troubleshooting and ensure the integrity and performance of the control systems at the plant and terminals at a high level of readiness. Coordinate and liaise with maintenance disciplines to improve systems based on performance and operational requirements to ensure satisfaction and business continuity. Responsibilities cover the facilities at ADNOC Distribution Fuel Storage Terminals & Depots, LPG plants, Fleet, military depots, aviation, plant equipment & asset, service stations, and Depots in all regions in United Arab Emirates (Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, DAF and NE) that include 12 depots & plants, and more than 540 service stations.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Maintains the availability of plant automation systems on multiple platforms, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and Distributed Control Systems (DCS) through regular checks and periodic monitoring to keep plant availability and readiness.
  • Deciphers process requirements through regular meetings and analyses complex systems development or modification or enhancement issues, communicating to relevant stakeholders to take appropriate action in time.
  • Maintains up‑to‑date technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional associations on a regular basis to guarantee top‑line servicing and monitoring.
  • Participates with vendors and other team members in troubleshooting, diagnosing, modifying, and repairing automation and network hardware, software, and communications problems, and prepares upgrade/replacement plans.
  • Develops and maintains accurate and up‑to‑date documentation, monitoring reports, logs, and files, consolidating project documentation and software for future reference.
  • Schedules visits at least once a week to prepare system/network performance and end‑user requirements reports for the team leader to take appropriate actions when needed.
  • Analyzes threats related to cybersecurity and safety system implementation gaps, providing a gap report.
  • Trains end users to effectively use process automation systems and responds to work orders, inquiries, and requests from other departments.
  • Supports the development of training programs to ensure users understand the functionality of the systems and can operate them through straightforward training.
  • Meets with end users regularly to gather feedback and ensures their requirements are translated into realistic steps for enhancing their experience.
  • Provides training support for UAE nationals as part of the Emiratization process.
  • Coordinates and participates in maintaining and enhancing process automation and network functionality per requirements and feedback to improve the systems.
  • Assists as needed with the maintenance of network communications, cable repairs, and configuration problems.
  • Prepares spare parts, backups, and system upgrade plans, ensuring proper installation and activation.
  • Supports Maintenance in keeping auxiliary automation systems related to tank gauging, air compressor, cathodic protection, flow metering, and fire alarm panels.
  • Proposes, develops, and implements management of change (MOC) when required.
GENERIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Plan, supervise, and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.
  • Train and develop the assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient and deliver section objectives.
  • Provide input for the preparation of department/section budgets and assist in implementing the approved budget and work plans.
  • Investigate and highlight significant variances to support effective performance and cost control.
  • Implement approved department/section policies, processes, systems, standards, and procedures to support execution of the section’s work programs in line with company and international standards.
  • Comply with all applicable legislation and legal regulations.
  • Contribute to the achievement of approved performance objectives for the department/section in line with the company performance framework.
  • Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes.
  • Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices to achieve greater efficiency in line with ISO standards, defining intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function.
  • Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures, and controls and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards and ADNOC Code of Practices.
  • Participate in emergency response duties as a team member.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
  • Bachelor’s degree in electronics, computer information systems, engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Six years of experience in implementation, support, and maintenance of process automation and controls in the oil and gas sector, preferably within both mid‑stream and downstream.
  • Experience working with one or more of the Honeywell and EMERSON DCS, Rockwell, B&R, and Siemens PLC systems.
