Job Purpose
To monitor and system error troubleshooting, ensuring the integrity and performance of the control systems at the plant and terminals at a high level of readiness. Furthermore, coordinate and liaise with maintenance disciplines to enhance the systems based on performance and operational requirements to ensure satisfaction and business continuity. The responsibility of the control system analyst covers the facilities at ADNOC Distribution Fuel Storage Terminals & Depots, LPG plants, Fleet, military depots, aviation, plant equipment & asset, service stations, and deposits in all regions in the United Arab Emirates including Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, DAF and NE, that includes 12 depots & plants, and more than 540 service stations.
Key Accountabilities
- Maintains the availability of plant automation systems on multiple platforms, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and Distributed Control Systems (DCS) through running regular checks and periodic monitoring to always maintain the plant availability and readiness.
- Deciphers process requirements through regular meetings and analyzes complex systems development or modification or enhancement issues and ensures to communicate to relevant stakeholders to take appropriate actions in time.
- Maintains up‑to‑date technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional associations on a regular basis to guarantee top‑line servicing and monitoring.
- Participates along with vendors and other team members in troubleshooting/diagnosing, modifying, and repairing automation and network hardware, software, and communications problems, and prepares upgrade/replacement plans.
- Develops and maintains accurate and up‑to‑date documentation, monitoring reports, logs, and files, and consolidates project documentation and software for future reference.
- Schedules visits at least once a week to prepare system/network performance and end user requirements reports for the team leader to take appropriate actions when needed.
- Analyzes any threats related to cybersecurity and safety system implementation gaps and provides a detailed report. Conducts knowledge transfer.
- Trains end users to make effective use of process automation systems and responds to work orders, inquiries, and requests from other departments on process automation and controls, plant information, and peripheral equipment.
- Supports the development of training programs to ensure users understand functionality of the systems and are able to run them through easy‑to‑grasp and straightforward training programs.
- Meets with end users and communicates on a regular basis to gather feedback of the systems and ensures their requirements are translated into realistic steps for enhancing their experience.
- Provides support in terms of training for UAE nationals as part of the Emiratization process.
- Coordinates and participates in maintaining and enhancing process automation and network functionality as per requirements and feedback, aiming to reflect that in enhancing the systems.
- Assists as needed with the maintenance of network communications and network cable repairs and configuration problems.
- Prepares spare parts, backups, and system upgrade plans as required and ensures proper installation and activation per requirements.
- Supports maintenance in the upkeep of auxiliary automation systems related to tank gauging, air compressor, cathodic protection, flow metering, and fire alarm panels. Proposes, develops, and implements management of change when required (MOC).
- Plans, supervises, and coordinates all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.
- Trains and develops the assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver the respective section objectives.
- Provides input for the preparation of the Department / Section budgets and assists in the implementation of the approved budget and work plans to deliver section objectives.
- Investigates and highlights any significant variances to support effective performance and cost control.
- Implements approved Department / Section policies, processes, systems, standards, and procedures to support execution of the section's work programs in line with company and international standards.
- Complies with all applicable legislation and legal regulations.
- Contributes to the achievement of the approved performance objectives for the department / section in line with the company performance framework.
- Designs and implements new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes.
- Identifies improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with ISO standards to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function.
- Complies with relevant HSE policies, procedures, controls, and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices, and ADNOC Code of Practices.
- Participates in emergency response duties as a team member.
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in electronics, computer information systems, engineering, or a closely related field.
- Six years of experience in implementation, support, and maintenance of process automation and controls in the oil and gas sector, preferably within both mid‑stream and downstream.
- Experience working with one or more of the Honeywell and EMERSON DCS, Rockwell, B&R, and Siemens PLC systems.
