You will collaborate with Trading Desk, Market Risk, Operations, and Technology to monitor day-to-day activities, perform data reconciliations, and reinforce end-of-day reporting accuracy. A strong foundation in finance and commodities markets is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Science, Engineering or Finance required.
  • 3 years experience in Product Control within a Middle Office.
  • Experience in building and using models.
  • Knowledge of commodities trading, market dynamics and risk analysis.
  • Understanding of financial instruments, derivatives and valuation concepts.

Job description

Job Description:

-Support to assess and monitor physical and financial trades. Ensuring they are accurate, timely and complete within the systems

-Assist to coordinate and review and validate deal and price in trading system by performing deal check, price validation, consensus curve update, and data reconciliation.

-Help to ensure effective governance over Day end reporting processes with regards timelines as well as accuracy of reporting in consultation with Market risk team

-Support to monitor timely deal capture, internal trading limits, and risk policy requirements to ensure the representativeness and integrity of transactions in the trading system.

-Support to reconcile fees with various external agents including exchanges and brokers

-Support to assess counterparty and broker concentration

-Help to evaluate out of office trading activity and other potential breaches of internal controls

-Help to ensure that “User-up-to-dateness” checks are regularly undertaken on systems

-Help to ensure that trader mandates are correct and maintained on both internal and external systems

-Support in Identification of operational risk and assist in defining risk mitigating measures and priorities.

-Understand the end-to-end trade processing flow needed to work with Trading Desk, Middle Office, Operations, and Technology in resolving trade and operational problems that may affect End of Day reporting

-Evaluate correctness of margin calls from exchanges

-Active management of day to day issues and queries from internal/external parties with escalations as necessary

-Analyze variations of Freight risk indicators on a daily basis, quantify potential impact on P&L

-Evaluate and provide insights around freight risk exposure (incl. for market freight movements) and risk evolutions as well as any noticeable events in the market

-Coordinate and review Vessel chartering deals in the system by performing deal check, price validation and data reconciliation.

Minimum Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Science, Engineering or Finance. MBA preferred.

Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills

  • 3 years experience in Product Controlwithin a Middle Office
  • Experienced in building and using models
  • Well informed of world product demand and supply, market dynamics
  • Industry knowledge - supply/demand fundamentals of physical market, product grades and quality specs, refining systems, transportation and pipeline infrastructure and products carried, competitors, marine operations, third-party system parameters, standard terms and conditions of contracts, displays knowledge of the global energy business, refinery economics/drivers, understands the value of variations in specification, timing, and volume
  • Commodities trading knowledge -understand trading strategies, basic knowledge of trading fundamentals, global markets, arbitrage, market climate, keeps up to date with international events and geo-political climate
  • Risk knowledge - risk management methodologies including stress testing and VaR measurement, risk analysis techniques, proficiency in fundamental credit analysis with an emphasis on financial statements and current trends impacting business issues
  • Financial knowledge - hedging/speculative/ price forecasting instruments, such as, derivatives, futures, options, OTC swaps, and various credit instruments, economic evaluation and analysis, understands concepts such as NPV, value creation, and option value
