Overview

The Analyst for Strategy and New Fund Initiatives is part of our Value Creation and Strategy team which plays a pivotal role in shaping Shorooq's strategic direction and maximizing the potential of our portfolio companies. The team is responsible for developing and implementing initiatives that drive platform‑level growth, optimize fundraising efforts, and strengthen investor relations. With a hands‑on approach, we collaborate closely with Shorooq’s Leadership team, portfolio companies’ founders and other partners to deliver value across the investment lifecycle and to the ecosystem.

The VCS team focuses on three key pillars:

  • Strategic Advisory
  • Capital Advisory
  • Talent Advisory

The VCS team often operates as a fast‑response unit for any urgent matter, specifically when it comes to business development, relationship management with key stakeholders and risk‑management. As part of this team, you will be exposed to a wide array of stakeholders, sectors and initiatives while gaining unparalleled insight into MENAP’s rapidly evolving investment landscape.

Key Responsibilities
Investor Relations and Fundraising Support
  • Assist in preparing pitch decks, investment memos, and fund marketing materials for Shorooq's current and future funds.
  • Oversee the production of the quarterly and annual reports for all funds under management.
  • Analyze LP data and trends to inform fundraising strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to plan roadshows, events, and LP engagement activities.
  • Engage in overall relationship management with Limited Partners and external stakeholders.
Portfolio Value Creation
  • Conduct deep‑dive analyses of portfolio companies to identify growth opportunities and track performance metrics and inform follow‑on investment decisions.
  • Assist portfolio companies on strategic aspects and in their fundraising efforts.
  • Work on strategic projects such as exit planning, market expansion, or partnership development.
  • Build the value creation playbook.
Rapid Response Unit and Operational Excellence
  • Prepare meeting materials, and action plans for internal and external discussions.
  • Support organizational initiatives such as conference participation, knowledge‑sharing activities, and internal process optimization.
Market Research and Strategy Development
  • Monitor regional and global market trends in venture capital, credit and private equity as well as other asset classes.
  • Research and draft reports on emerging investment themes and sector opportunities.
  • Support internal strategic planning initiatives to refine Shorooq’s positioning and offerings.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s preferred but not required.
  • 1–2 years (including internships) of relevant experience in investment banking, venture capital, private equity, management consulting or similar fields.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem‑solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of Arabic is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
