Job Purpose The AI and Emerging Technology Audit Specialist will perform assigned assurance engagements from initial planning through fieldwork, reporting and wrap-up, applying risk and control concepts to AI and emerging technology environments. Acting as a subject matter expert, the role contributes to periodic risk assessments and Risk-Based Work Plans covering AI governance, benefit realization, return on investment, embedded AI lifecycle controls and other emerging technology risks across ADNOC and Group Companies.
AI and Emerging Technology Assurance
- Perform assigned AI and Emerging Technology audit engagements from pre-planning through completion and wrap-up.
- Apply appropriate risk and control concepts to scenarios encountered during assurance activities.
- Identify potential governance, technology, control and business-value issues across ADNOC and Group Companies.
- Evaluate AI-enabled initiatives and the extent to which intended benefits and business value are being realized.
- Assess embedded controls throughout relevant AI lifecycles.
- Provide specialist input into periodic risk assessments and development of Risk-Based Work Plans.
Audit Universe and Risk Planning
- Develop and maintain an audit universe that appropriately covers AI and emerging technology risks.
- Review and update the AI and Emerging Technology Landscape and Audit Universe.
- Consider AI governance, business value realization, third-party dependencies, processes, IT and OT infrastructure, interfaces, resilience and cybersecurity within assurance planning.
- Identify current, emerging and potential AI and technology issues, trends and opportunities affecting AGCs and BLDs.
- Ensure relevant technology risks are reflected appropriately within assurance planning.
Industrial AI Assurance
- Develop and implement the Industrial AI Assurance Plan.
- Align assurance planning with the organization 's AI strategy, use-case and initiative portfolio and new technology rollouts.
- Support strategic initiatives affecting Group-wide audit plans, including AI Infrastructure Readiness and process enhancements.
- Oversee execution of the assurance plan against established objectives.
- Coordinate with AGCs to assess coverage of the AI universe and key AI risks.
- Review AGC audit plans to ensure appropriate incorporation of Group AI Assurance objectives.
AI Governance and Control Assessment
- Assess AI governance, risk management and control systems.
- Evaluate model risk and controls relating to AI-enabled solutions.
- Review training and inference data governance.
- Assess bias, fairness and explainability considerations.
- Evaluate AI-related cybersecurity, privacy and regulatory compliance controls.
- Review risks arising from third-party AI dependencies.
- Assess relevant IT General Computing Controls and processes supporting technology environments.
- Review system development, infrastructure, access-right management, asset management and change management controls.
Audit Reporting
- Prepare audit reports containing clear conclusions and professional opinions.
- Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of AI governance, risk management and control systems.
- Assess the extent to which AI initiatives deliver their intended value and benefits.
- Evaluate the efficiency with which relevant activities are performed.
- Identify control or governance deficiencies and recommend improvement options for Department Manager review.
- Recommend practical enhancements to AI governance, risk and control processes that support company business objectives.
- Provide input for periodic reporting on AI assurance activities, performance against plans, significant risk exposures and control or governance matters.
Technology and Assurance Frameworks
- Apply relevant professional standards and frameworks to AI and emerging technology assurance activities.
- Interpret and apply the NIST AI Risk Management Framework.
- Apply relevant principles from ISO 42001 Artificial Intelligence Management System.
- Use applicable OWASP Top 10 for LLM, MITRE ATLAS and COBIT concepts within AI auditing practice.
- Develop or review audit and security programs addressing emerging and new technology risks and challenges.
Audit Governance and Coordination
- Provide professional advice relating to Group Companies ' Audit Committee Charters and Internal Audit Charters.
- Advise on AI Assurance methodologies and procedures.
- Support establishment of Group Audit Committees, Internal Audit functions and related governance when assigned.
- Coordinate assurance requirements with relevant ADNOC and Group Company stakeholders.
Data, Systems and Technology Analysis
- Collect and analyze complex solution, system integration and data information.
- Evaluate systems and information for potential automation and enhancement opportunities.
- Apply technical knowledge of AI, Machine Learning, data modeling and ETL solutions during assurance activities.
- Support evaluation of technology-enabled initiatives from governance, control and business-value perspectives.
Supervision and Staff Development
- Plan, supervise and coordinate activities within the assigned area to meet functional objectives.
- Train and develop assigned staff in relevant assurance and technology skills.
- Support personnel development to achieve Section objectives.
- Manage and track time across relevant Internal Audit activities.
Budget and Performance Management
- Provide input for preparation of Function, Department and Section budgets.
- Assist with implementation of approved budgets and work plans.
- Investigate and highlight significant variances to support performance and cost control.
- Contribute to achievement of approved performance objectives within the company performance framework.
Policies and Continuous Improvement
- Implement approved policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures.
- Support execution of work programs in accordance with company and international standards.
- Design and implement tools and techniques that improve operational quality and efficiency.
- Identify opportunities to improve internal processes against relevant industry practices.
Health, Safety, Environment and Sustainability
- Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures and controls.
- Follow applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines.
- Perform assigned responsibilities in accordance with international standards, relevant practices and ADNOC Codes of Practice.
Reporting
- Provide input for Management Information System and progress reports for company management.
Minimum Qualification
- Bachelor 's Degree in Computer Science, a related Technology discipline or equivalent discipline.
Minimum Experience, Knowledge and Skills
- 8-10 years of combined relevant experience in emerging technology assurance, including areas such as automation, data science, artificial intelligence and IoT.
- Experience in emerging technology governance and control.
- Experience evaluating AI and emerging technology-enabled initiatives and their business value realization in a corporate environment.
- Oil and Gas operations and associated technology initiative experience is preferred.
- Expertise in developing or reviewing audit and security programs for emerging and new technology risks.
- Advanced knowledge and practical experience in AI-related risks and controls, including model risk, training and inference data governance, bias and fairness, explainability, cybersecurity, privacy, regulatory compliance and third-party AI dependencies.
- Advanced technical knowledge of AI, Machine Learning, data modeling and ETL solutions.
- In-depth knowledge of IT General Computing Controls and processes.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant AI and technology assurance standards and frameworks, including NIST AI Risk Management Framework, ISO 42001 AIMS, OWASP Top 10 for LLM, MITRE ATLAS and COBIT.
- Extensive knowledge of planning, project management and contract review.
- Expertise in analyzing complex solutions, system integrations and data.
- Experience managing and tracking time across Internal Audit activities.
