Job description

The purpose of this position is to supervise and lead a line maintenance team to provide comprehensive engineering and maintenance services covering the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) system for Dubai Metro.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead a team of AFC technicians and senior technicians to carry out all levels of preventive and corrective maintenance activities and minor modifications on automatic fare collection system and CCTV including central control and AFC station equipment, car park, test lab and repair shop.
  • Supervise the installation, servicing, and repairing of automatic fare collection system located in stations and central computer room.
  • Ensure the team uses proper hand, machine, electrical and electronic tools and reference to technical drawings, signalling schematics, manuals, procedures and work instructions when performing repair and maintenance work.
  • Supervise the replacement of faulty automatic fare collection system equipment, hand over / take back to the electronics workshop for repair.
  • Knowledge and competence in technical standards will be regularly assessed.
  • Produce and maintain accurate maintenance records of automatic fare collection system and CCTV equipment performance, work accomplished and other information using a computerized maintenance management system.
  • Ensure the maintenance tools and equipment are in good condition.
  • Provide technical support to other staff for the implementation of complex systems or new projects.
  • Assist subordinates with job familiarisation and provide training and assessment where required.
  • Perform shift and emergency duties when required.
  • Drive or operate maintenance vehicles when required during fault rectification.
  • Perform and carry out duties as instructed/directed by the AFC Engineer.
KEY SKILLS
  • Thorough understanding of the use, calibration and care of various electronic test equipment and ability to interpret instructions in a variety of written, verbal, pictorial forms in order to carry out the maintenance activities as required.
  • Ability to compile technical reports, prepare method statements and drawings as required.
  • Possess good communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and work productively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong organisational skills, detail oriented, and the ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Preferably hold a valid UAE driving license with good driving skill and experience.
EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum 3 years work experience as a qualified electrical or electronics technician in maintaining and repairing automatic fare collection system covering automatic gates, ticket vending machines, ticket office machines, CCTV and related communication components, is highly preferable.
  • Preferably with 1 year of supervisory experience in leading a team of technicians in carrying out the maintenance activities.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION
  • Vocational trade certificate/diploma/degree in electronics/Computer science/information technology/electrical or mechanical engineering discipline or equivalent.
