Petrofac is seeking an Advisor I - Road Safety to lead and enforce driving safety standards across sites in Abu Dhabi. You will implement requirements, train drivers, and monitor IVMS/AFDD data to drive improvements.

The role requires a Bachelor’s or Diploma, NEBOSH IGC, five years in road safety, and a local driving license. Strong communication in English and mentoring abilities are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (4 years) or Diploma (3 years) is required.
  • NEBOSH IGC or Equivalent is required.
  • IVMS & AFDD Software expertise is required.
  • Local In Country Driving license is required.
  • 5 years of experience in road safety management and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and enforce driving safety requirements and local traffic regulations.
  • Enforce seatbelt use, site speed limits, and no mobile phone use while driving.
  • Prepare road safety training materials and conduct awareness sessions for drivers.
  • Deliver defensive driving briefings and maintain driver training records.
  • Monitor IVMS data and AFDD to identify speeding, harsh braking, and fatigue; generate reports.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly transportation safety reports and KPIs.
  • Conduct vehicle condition checks and ensure compliance with policies.
  • Carry out road safety audits and develop a Site Traffic Management Plan.

JOB TITLE: Advisor I - Road Safety

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Implement and enforce company and client requirements on driving safety and local traffic regulations
  • Enforce mandatory seatbelt use, compliance with site speed limits, and strict zero-tolerance policies for mobile phone use while driving
  • Prepare Road Safety awareness training materials, conduct Road safety awareness sessions/ campaigns and ensure that all drivers have undergone the required trainings
  • Deliver defensive driving briefings, toolbox talks, and inductions centered on Driving Life-Saving Rules; maintain updated driver training records and licenses.
  • Participate in Transport Safety/Road Safety Risk Assessments and ensure adequate safety controls are in place
  • Monitor In-Vehicle Monitoring System (IVMS) data and AFDD (Active Fatigue Detection) to identify speeding, harsh braking, seat belt, night driving and fatigue; generate performance reports and recommend corrective actions.
  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly transportation safety reports and maintain KPIs for management review.
  • Conduct routine vehicle condition checks to ensure that they are maintained in line with manufacture’s recommendations, Client requirements and Petrofac policies
  • Carry out audits on Road Safety / Spot Checks to ensure that Petrofac and Client requirements on driving safety are met
  • Develop a Site Traffic Management Plan for worksites to ensure the safety by separation of workers from moving vehicles and equipment
  • Understand and implement Journey Management Plan (JMP), ensuring they account for driver fatigue, extreme weather (e.g., fog, summer heat constraints), and vehicle readiness.
  • Investigate vehicular incidents, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and implement corrective actions for all contractor and sub-contractor fleets
  • Develop site specific Emergency Response Plans for managing driving related incidents and participate in incident investigations

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree (4 years) or Diploma (3 years)
  • NEBOSH IGC or Equivalent
  • IVMS & AFDD Software expertise
  • Local In country Driving license
  • 5 years of experience in managing and implementing Road Safety aspects, with specific focus on IVMS / AFDD data generation and reports

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Sound understanding of Local In Country traffic regulations, defensive driving, desert driving principles, and Client requirements
  • Thorough knowledge on the vehicle safety devices
  • Ability to train, mentor, and influence drivers and transport teams
  • Ability to speak, read and write English with good communication skills
  • Previous Client approval is an added advantage
