Job summary

Global Studies University (GSU) in Sharjah seeks an Accountant to maintain accurate financial records, manage accounting operations, and support reporting in line with internal policies and Sharjah regulations. The role ensures data integrity and supports management decisions.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance, 3–5 years in accounting, and knowledge of ERP systems. Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Arabic is a plus.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate accounting records and support financial reporting.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, including review and processing of payments.
• Prepare bank reconciliations and monitor cash balances.
• Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Support budget monitoring and expenditure tracking against allocations.
• Ensure compliance with Sharjah Finance Department requirements.
• Coordinate with banks regarding payments, transfers, and account-related matters.
• Support asset registration, depreciation tracking, and periodic asset verification.
• Assist during audits by providing required financial information.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the direct supervisor.
• Ensure compliance with university policies, internal controls, and UAE laws.
• Support continuous improvement of financial processes and reporting.

The Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounting operations, and supporting financial reporting in compliance with internal policies and Sharjah Finance Department regulations. The role ensures the integrity of financial data and supports management in operational and financial decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and complete accounting records in accordance with applicable regulations and standards
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, including review, verification, and
  processing of payments
• Prepare bank reconciliations and monitor cash balances
• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
• Support budget monitoring and expenditure tracking against approved allocations
• Ensure proper documentation and compliance with Sharjah Finance Department requirements
• Coordinate with banks regarding payments, transfers, and account-related matters
• Support asset registration, depreciation tracking, and periodic asset verification
• Assist during internal and external audits by providing required financial information
• Perform other duties as assigned by the direct supervisor
• Ensure compliance with the University’s financial policies and procedures, internal control requirements, and applicable laws and regulations in the United Arab Emirates
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to financial processes, reporting, and accounting efficiency

Academic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
• All academic qualifications and educational certificates must be duly attested by the competent authorities in the country of issuance, authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and recognized and/or equivalized by the competent authorities in the United Arab Emirates, including the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (or the authority responsible for academic recognition), in accordance with applicable laws and regulations

Professional Experience

• Professional accounting certifications such as CPA, ACCA, CMA, CIMA, or equivalent qualifications will be considered a strong advantage
• Postgraduate qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or related disciplines are an advantage
• Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience
• Solid knowledge of accounting principles, financial controls, and reporting
• Experience with governmental or semi-governmental financial frameworks is preferred
• Experience working with ERP and financial management systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, Oracle, SAP, or similar platforms is preferred
