Job description
Youth Programs Coordinator, White Sulphur Springs

Support the Youth Programs Manager in the development, promotion and conduct of youth programs and activities at WSS to draw youth to Jesus Christ and make an impact on the way they live for Him.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Support the WSS Center Director and the ministry of the Officers' Christian Fellowship in establishing and maintaining a healthy spiritual climate at WSS.
  • Disciple and equip subordinates for spiritual growth.
  • Lead staff devotionals, prayers and daily supervision of interns, senior staff and volunteers.
  • Train, counsel, mentor and teach youth programs staff to be effective camp counselors in both hard and soft skills.
  • Plan, coordinate, train staff and conduct outdoor programming at White Sulphur Springs, including Allegheny Outback, Camp Caleb and Adventure Weekends.
  • Develop spiritual/devo curriculum for all youth programs and support other WSS children programs during events.
  • Maintain facilities, high ropes and low ropes courses and ensure buildings and vehicles are in good condition.
  • Assist with shared responsibilities such as meal service and maintenance of wastewater treatment plant.
  • Exercise financial stewardship by coordinating expenses and tracking budget for programs.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Youth Programs Manager.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
  • Prior outdoor adventure leadership/experience is essential.
  • Knowledge of White Sulphur Springs Youth Programs preferred.
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree not required, but a plus.
  • Technical proficiency in conducting outdoor adventure activities, including high ropes course, zip line, rappelling, rock climbing, whitewater rafting and canoeing, hiking and backpacking.
  • Ability to teach and train others in classroom and outdoor environments.
  • Ability to provide first aid in outdoor/wilderness environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, EXSEL, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to develop age-appropriate devotional curriculum and materials.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the organization.>
  • Ability to accept responsibility for assigned tasks and complete them on schedule.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage time, solve problems and handle multiple tasks efficiently with little guidance.
Working Conditions

This position and opportunity should be viewed as a calling to serve and be part of the WSS ministry, not just another job.

Full‑time, benefit‑eligible, non‑exempt position. Working hours as necessary to accomplish responsibilities.

Normal work hours on weekdays, typically 9 hours/day; longer hours sometimes required. Extensive time working outdoors normal. Good physical fitness and stamina required.

Must be capable of teaching, training and participating in all outdoor activities, including camping, hiking, backpacking, rappelling, rock climbing, high and low ropes courses and whitewater canoeing and rafting.

Position requires living at White Sulphur Springs. Housing on property provided as part of compensation and benefits package.

Day off: Monday under normal conditions and either Sunday or Tuesday as weekend duty rotation allows. Days off during peak seasons normally 1 day off per week, with compensatory time earned.

Available to start late Spring or early Summer. Reasonable expectation to serve 3‑5 years.

Reasonable expectation that applicant will serve ministry-level compensation.
