Job summary

A logistics company is seeking a Yard Operations professional for a permanent position. Responsibilities

• Issue updated stock reports to machine operators before their shifts.
• Ensure safe and correct staging of trucks for loading and offloading.
• Verify compliance with loading slips issued for containers.
• Ensure all loaded containers are clean and undamaged.
• Implement FIFO management for container loading.
• Direct damaged containers to designated areas for attention.
• Follow reasonable instructions from supervisors regarding yard activities.

Job description

Minimum Education & Experience required: High School Diploma or equivalent; a degree or certification in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred. 1-3 years of experience in yard operations, logistics, or container handling is preferred. Strong understanding of safety regulations and practices related to yard operations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with team members and transporters. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Issue updated stock reports to machine operators before the start of their shifts.
• Truck staging – ensure all trucks are safely and correctly staged for loading and offloading containers.
• Loading compliance – verify that transporters uplift containers according to the loading slips issued at the tracking office.
• Container condition – ensure all loaded containers are clean and undamaged before leaving the depot.
• FIFO management – implement a first in / first out process for container loading.
• Damage handling – direct damaged and chemical wash containers to designated workshop and wash bay areas for necessary attention.
• Supervisory support – act on reasonable instructions from supervisors related to yard activities.
