Staff Solutions is seeking a Supervisor to enforce PPE usage, safety regulations, and company policies within the production department. You will monitor absenteeism, oversee subordinates, and ensure timely handovers and reporting.

The role requires accurate, independent work with good attendance and willingness to work shifts, standby, and overtime. Relevant licenses and a supervisory certificate are advantageous.

Formación

• Matric or equivalent is required.
• Supervisor certificate will be advantageous.
• Valid Excavator and Forklift licenses will be advantageous.
• Ability to work accurately and independently.
• Good attendance, disciplinary and timekeeping record, with availability for shift work, standby and overtime.

Responsabilidades

• Ensure correct PPE is used at all times and address PPE concerns promptly.
• Adhere to Health and Safety rules and regulations.
• Follow company policies and procedures.
• Participate in flexible training initiatives.
• Conduct Health & Safety risk assessments and report concerns to Manager.
• Report misconduct and poor performance to the Manager.
• Monitor daily absenteeism and arrange alternatives as needed.
• Report absenteeism issues promptly to the Manager.
• Check production activity of the previous shift and ensure no delays for the current shift.
• Follow up on Health & Safety incidents and participate in counselling sessions when required.
• Ensure daily housekeeping and department maintenance are performed.
• Lead daily team and toolbox talks and maintain clear interdepartmental communication.
• Understand subordinates’ functions and oversee their work to meet job descriptions.
• Assist Manager in closing on-the-job training gaps within the team.
• Review completed checklists and update reports; escalate concerns when needed.
• Ensure nonconformances are rectified in time or escalated to Manager.
• Inspect equipment for good working order and raise concerns timeously.
• Validate hot work permits for gas cutters and report concerns.
• Check expiry dates of fire extinguishers and report expired items.
• Ensure subordinates follow DSTI for tasks.
• Approve requisition slips timeously and follow up on delays with Manager.
• Ensure incident investigation forms are completed by end of each shift and reported.
• Monitor vehicle and machinery inspections.
• Ensure shift handover is performed with the outgoing Supervisor.

Duties:

• Ensuring the correct PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is utilized at all times, addressing any PPE concerns timeously;
• Ensuring adherence to Health and Safety rules and regulations;
• Ensuring adherence to the rules and regulations as documented within the company’s policies and procedures;
• Participating in flexible training initiatives;
• Participating in Health & Safety risk assessments;
• Reporting any and all misconduct and poor performance to the Manager;
• Reporting any and all PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) violations to the Manager, as well as the Health & Safety Department;
• Monitoring daily absenteeism within your ambit, and facilitating alternative arrangements for absenteeism;
• Reporting any absenteeism issues to the Manager timeously;
• Checking on production activities for the previous shift and ensuring production activity without delays for the current shift;
• Following up on Health & Safety incidents within the department;
• Participating in employee counselling sessions as and when required;
• Ensuring that daily housekeeping takes place and that maintenance activities are executed within the department;
• Conducting daily team and/or toolbox talk meetings within the team;
• Ensuring sound communication within and between departments;
• Ensuring that you have a comprehensive understanding of all subordinates’ functions within the team, and continuously overseeing subordinates’ work to ensure fulfilment of functions as defined within the job descriptions;
• Assisting the Manager in identifying and closing any “on-thejob-training” gaps within the team;
• Gathering all completed checklists from subordinates, reviewing all checklists and updating all relevant reports;
• Following up on all identified concerns on the checklists timeously, alternatively escalating the concerns to the Manager;
• Ensuring that the Operator(s) rectify any and all nonconformances and/or deviations from the required production standards within the team timeously, alternatively escalating any concerns to the Manager;
• Continuously inspecting equipment used by subordinates to ensure that they are in good working order and raising concerns timeously with the Manager;
• Inspecting and ensuring the validity of the hot work permits for gas cutters and raising any concerns identified with the Manager;
• Checking expiration dates of the fire extinguishers in the gas cutters’ possession and reporting any expired fire extinguishers to the Manager, as well as the Health and Safety Department;
• Ensuring all subordinates follow the DSTI (Daily Safe Task Instruction) as they relate to specific tasks;
• Ensuring timeous approval of requisition slips and following up on all outstanding requisition slips (and reporting any delays) for any necessary part and/or equipment replacement with the Manager;
• Ensuring incident investigation forms are being completed by the end of each shift for any incidents that take place on shift, and report any concerns to the Manager;
• Monitoring general vehicle and machinery inspections;
• Ensuring a shift handover is done with the following Supervisor commencing duty and that shift handover practices are maintained within the team;

Minimum requirements:

• A minimum qualification of Matric or equivalent
• Relevant Supervisor Certificate will be advantageous.
• Valid Excavator & Forklift license will be advantageous.
• Posses the ability to work accurately and independently.
• Have a good attendance, disciplinary and timekeeping record; and
• Be available for shift work, standby and overtime is essential.
