Job summary

A leading recruitment agency is seeking a Workshop Manager in Gqeberha to oversee workshop operations in the Freight and Logistics industry. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in transport or mechanical workshops, along with management skills. Responsibilities include supervising staff, managing vehicle servicing and compliance with safety standards. Candidates with a Grade 12 education and valid Code EC/EC1 driver’s license are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a transport or mechanical workshop.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a management or supervisory role.
  • Valid Code EC/EC1 driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise workshop staff and daily operations.
  • Manage vehicle servicing, breakdowns, and downtime.
  • Ensure quality control and workshop safety compliance.
  • Manage stock, tools, and parts procurement and procedures.
  • Implement new systems to improve operational efficiency.
  • Manage workshop administration, including invoice capturing and stock control.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee policies and procedures.
  • Oversee licensing, trailer inspections, and Certificate of Fitness (COF) renewals.
  • Monitor maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.
  • Coordinate with transport and operations departments to ensure fleet readiness.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Train and mentor workshop staff to improve performance and productivity.

Skills

Technical knowledge of trucks, trailers, and mechanical systems
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Management experience
Available for after-hours support
