Job description
Overview

Let the Journey Begin... Are you seeking a role where your psychological expertise is used to create meaningful real-world outcomes? At KINNECT we’re looking for Provisional or Registered Psychologists to join our expanding team in Newcastle supporting clients on their journey to recovery and return to work.

This isn’t your standard therapy room role. You’ll apply clinical tools like motivational interviewing, micro-counselling and vocational rehabilitation to empower individuals recovering from psychological injury.

You’ll also develop skills in advocating for clients, collaborating with treating teams and insurers, and preparing high-quality clinical documentation while being part of a vibrant supportive team that values growth and impact.

As a Workplace Rehabilitation Psychologist You Will
  • Conduct psychological assessments to identify psychosocial, cognitive and vocational barriers to recovery and return to work
  • Deliver evidence-based psychological interventions including CBT, mindfulness and stress management techniques
  • Collaborate closely with treating professionals, employers, case managers and insurers to ensure integrated client-focused care
  • Provide tailored short-term counselling and coaching supporting clients with injury adjustment, emotional regulation and workplace stress
  • Design and manage individualised rehabilitation plans that are goal-oriented, evidence-informed and focused on sustainable return-to-work outcomes
  • Guide clients through vocational exploration and employment transitions using vocational assessments, transferable skills analysis and job-seeking support
  • Perform labour market and job analysis to identify realistic meaningful employment opportunities aligned with clients’ capabilities and local market conditions
  • Maintain accurate, timely and professional documentation including clinical notes, assessment reports and rehabilitation plans in accordance with regulatory and ethical standards
  • Demonstrate strong digital literacy and adaptability; Kinnect is a leader in technology-enabled healthcare, so confidence with digital platforms is essential
  • Bring a customer-centric mindset with a strong focus on delivering high-quality, outcome-driven psychological and vocational rehabilitation services
Why This Role is Different
  • Diverse real-world experience: Work across a variety of client presentations, industries and recovery journeys
  • Use your whole skillset: Engage in micro-counselling, education, vocational support, report writing, etc.
  • Team-based support: Collaborate with our multidisciplinary Newcastle team and connect regularly with Sydney-based Psychologists and Rehabilitation Counsellors for shared learning and peer support
  • Grow with us: Be part of Kinnect’s expanding Psychological Services division led by our COO (a Registered Psychologist) and guided by a Lead Psychologist who began with us as a Provisional Psych
  • Tangible outcomes: Make a real difference by helping people rebuild their confidence, return to work and improve their quality of life
  • Aligned with industry change: Join a growing movement toward psychological safety and mental health in the workplace
Accelerate Your Growth with Our Career Development Program

Whether you’re a new graduate or an early-career professional, KINNECT has designed structured support to help you thrive:

  • Supervision: Provisional Psychologists will receive structured support to meet AHPRA registration requirements
  • Mentorship: Connect with an experienced mentor from your discipline for one-on-one guidance and development
  • Professional Development: Participate in monthly PD sessions
  • Collaboration: Shadow experienced team members
  • Personalised Learning: Access to funding to cover supervision costs (for Provisional Psychologists)
