Job summary

Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate in Hermanus is seeking a Wine Tasting Ambassador for the busy seasonal period to host guests in the tasting room and guide them through our ranges and pairings.

You will build lasting relationships, tell the lagoon and cellar story, promote our wine club, Moody Lagoon restaurant, villas and estate events, and ensure every guest leaves with a memorable experience.

Qualifications

• Proven experience hosting tastings or selling wine in a tasting room, cellar door, wine estate, restaurant or luxury hospitality setting, with a minimum of six months in the role.
• WSET or a similar qualification is an advantage.
• A track record of turning conversations into sales.
• A polished, personable manner with guests from all over the world.

Wine Tasting Ambassadors - Seasonal

Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate, Hermanus

Benguela Cove sits on the edge of a Ramsar wetland in the Walker Bay area near Hermanus. Wild horses graze the lagoon banks, over 200 bird species pass through, and a gravity-fed cellar makes some of the Overberg’s most distinctive wines. We are looking for experienced wine professionals to bring that story to life in our tasting room.

The role

As a Wine Tasting Ambassador you will host guests in the tasting room, guide them through our ranges and pairings, and turn a first visit into a lasting relationship with the estate. You will:

• Lead tastings with authority, warmth and confidence.
• Tell the story of the lagoon, the cellar and the people behind both.
• Sell wine, including our wine club, and introduce guests to Moody Lagoon restaurant, the villas and our events.
• Make every guest feel looked after, from the first greeting to the last bottle.

You have

• Proven experience hosting tastings or selling wine in a tasting room, cellar door, wine estate, restaurant or luxury hospitality setting, with a minimum of six months in the role.
• Solid wine knowledge. WSET or a similar qualification is an advantage.
• A track record of turning conversations into sales.
• A polished, personable manner with guests from all over the world.
• Availability for weekends, public holidays and the busy summer season.
• Fluent English. Afrikaans, German or French is a bonus.
