Job summary

Implats is seeking a Winder Operator to safely and efficiently operate the mine winder for hauling ore, personnel, materials, and equipment during a shift. Responsibilities include starting and controlling the winder, reporting defects, and coordinating winding activities with the overall process requirements.

Requirements include Grade 12 with Mathematics and Physical Science, DMRE Winding Engine Drivers Certificate, Banksman/Onsetter Certificate, and 3 years of shaft barrel experience as

Qualifications

• Grade 12 with Mathematics and Physical Science is required.
• DMRE Winding Engine Drivers Certificate is required.
• Banksman/Onsetter Certificate is required.
• 3 years working experience in shaft barrel as a Banksman/Onsetter or Shaft Timberman.

Responsibilities

• Starts and takes control of Winder.
• Communicates winding engine defects and sub-standard conditions to the supervisor or manager.
• Performs ore pulling operations from relevant levels.
• Transports people by means of a winder.
• Coordinates winding activities with total process requirements.
• Escalates abnormal operations problems to the Engineer or Manager.
• Responds to standard signals.
• Assists during breakdowns or emergencies.
• Adheres to winding plant safety and legislation.
