Job summary

A leading research institution in Pretoria is seeking a Control Veterinary Technologist to manage laboratory functions at the Hans Hoheisen Wildlife Research Station. The successful candidate will oversee laboratory tests, engage with the community, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations. Applicants must have a relevant veterinary qualification and registration with the South African Veterinary Council. This position offers a dynamic work environment within the Greater Kruger National Park.

Qualifications

  • Veterinary technology qualification with 3-5 years’ experience in lab techniques and management.
  • Registration with the South African Veterinary Council as a Veterinary Technologist.
  • Proficiency in ISO 17025, GLP, biology, research methodology, and health and safety.
  • Experience in managing laboratories and supervising staff.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee all laboratory tests and training services at HHWRS.
  • Perform complex laboratory examinations and provide technical support.
  • Supervise staff and coordinate community engagement activities.
  • Maintain a research project register and an approved biobank.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Excellent written and verbal language skills

Education
