Overseas Expectations
- Work Hours Must Align with U.S. Eastern Time (EST)
- Core working hours are 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST, Monday through Friday.
- Overseas workers must adjust their schedule to be fully available and online during these hours.
- Occasional flexibility may be allowed, but EST coverage is non-negotiable.
- Must be responsive to both internal team as well as clients via email, Teams, or other tools within a reasonable time frame (e.g., within 15–30 minutes during work hours).
- Acknowledge requests and provide an expectation for a response if the timeframe to provide an answer is not possible within 30 minutes.
- Attend daily stand-ups, scheduled meetings, and impromptu calls as needed.
- Camera should be on and workspace properly lit.
- Proactive communication is expected—provide updates without being asked.
- Overseas workers are equal team members and are expected to own their tasks with the same level of responsibility as U.S.-based colleagues.
- If a task cannot be completed or the next step is unclear, it is essential to raise it to the team immediately so that someone can take ownership and ensure continuity.
- Leaving tasks unresolved without follow-up is unacceptable. For example, if you create an invoice but are unsure who is responsible for sending it, you must flag it clearly—do not leave it unfinished or unassigned.
- Every team member should think through the entire workflow (e.g., end-to-end accounting processes) and ensure that all steps are completed or clearly transitioned.
- Show up on time to meetings, deliver consistent work, and maintain a professional attitude.
- A stable internet connection and a quiet working environment are essential.
- Understand that the team operates on EST, and plan ahead for things like time changes (Daylight Saving Time, for example).
- Avoid frequent unavailability during EST hours due to personal or local matters.
- Engage in team discussions, contribute ideas, and stay visible even while remote.
- Use shared tools (e.g., project trackers, time logs, status updates) to show progress.
- If applicable, send daily status updates as we continue to work on backlog.
