Placements24 seeks a Water Resources Engineer for a Paarl-based environmental and water management consultancy. The role focuses on catchment management, flood studies, and water infrastructure planning to address scarcity, flood risk, and water quality in the Western Cape.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s in Civil or Environmental Engineering with a specialization in Water Resources and at least 5 years’ experience, with Pr Eng/Pr Tech Eng registration preferred.

Competenze

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering with a specialization in Water Resources.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in water resources engineering and management.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) or Professional Engineering Technologist (Pr Tech Eng) registration with ECSA is preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in hydrological modeling, hydraulic analysis, and flood studies.
• Proficiency in relevant water resource modeling software and GIS tools.

About the Role

Our client, a specialized environmental and water management consultancy located in Paarl, Western Cape , is seeking a skilled Water Resources Engineer. This role is critical for the sustainable management and development of water resources, focusing on catchment management, flood studies, and water infrastructure planning. You will be involved in projects that address water scarcity, flood risk, and water quality challenges within the region. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background in hydrology, hydraulics, and water resource modeling, combined with excellent analytical and communication skills. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct hydrological and hydraulic analyses for river systems, floodplains, and urban drainage.
• Develop and implement water resource management plans.
• Perform flood risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
• Utilize hydrological and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, MIKE FLOOD).
• Design stormwater infrastructure, including culverts, channels, and detention ponds.
• Assess water availability and demand, and develop water supply strategies.
• Prepare technical reports, design documents, and environmental impact assessments.
• Collaborate with government agencies, stakeholders, and project teams.
• Provide technical input for water-related infrastructure projects.
• Stay current with best practices and regulatory requirements in water resource management.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering with a specialization in Water Resources.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in water resources engineering and management.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) or Professional Engineering Technologist (Pr Tech Eng) registration with ECSA is preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in hydrological modeling, hydraulic analysis, and flood studies.
