About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated Water Resource Engineer to join their environmental and engineering services team, based in Mossel Bay, Western Cape . This role is critical for planning, designing, and managing water-related infrastructure projects, including water supply, wastewater treatment, stormwater management, and flood control. The position offers full remote work flexibility, allowing you to contribute your expertise from anywhere within South Africa while collaborating closely with the team and clients. You will be involved in projects that are vital for sustainable development and public health in coastal and inland communities. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement integrated water resource management plans.
• Design and oversee the construction of water supply systems, pipelines, and treatment plants.
• Plan and design wastewater collection and treatment systems.
• Develop stormwater management strategies and flood risk assessments.
• Conduct hydrological and hydraulic modeling using specialized software (e.g., HEC-RAS, EPANET).
• Perform environmental impact assessments related to water projects.
• Ensure compliance with water quality standards, environmental regulations, and legislation.
• Collaborate with government agencies, municipalities, and other stakeholders.
• Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and design documentation.
• Provide technical oversight and quality control for water infrastructure projects.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Water Resource Engineering, Civil Engineering with a water focus, or Environmental Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA is required.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in water resource engineering, encompassing design and management.
• Proven experience with hydrological and hydraulic modeling software.
• Strong understanding of South African water legislation and environmental policies.
• Experience in municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects is essential.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage projects remotely.
• Effective communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
