Role Outline
A Warehouse Operative is responsible to accurately check all incoming and outgoing stock against documentation, identify any short, over picked, and damaged stock, record and report stock discrepancies, ensure stock is secure for transportation, and move palletized stock according to operational requirements while maintaining high standards of customer service and safety.
Key Responsibilities

- Ensure correct use of forklift and other company equipment and to timeously report any defects
- Housekeeping
- Maintain high level of hygiene of forklift
- To work within operating areas as determined by management and the needs of the business
- When carrying out duties – follow standard operating procedures and safe working practices
- Be actively involved in and support change initiatives
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management
- Ensure that all warehouse damages are kept to a minimum and are in line with the accepted warehouse damages % as
- Transporting of materials to the correct areas
- Adherence to Health & Safety standards & rules
- To contribute to a productive working environment
- Participation in stock counts
- Be actively involved in and support change initiatives
- Report and record any non-conformity with regards to the customers merchandise or unsafe acts
- Operate with integrity and ethical values
- De-stacking, labelling, sorting products and taking out damages
- Parceling, wrapping or tying of goods
- Inspect stock integrity
- Handle goods with care to minimize damages
- Complete tasks timeously
- Adhere to the Unit’s SHE rules and best practices
- Ensure that product safety, quality and integrity is not compromised
- Report any persons behavior that may impact on the safety, quality and integrity of the stored product
- Validate documents (GRV, COA, invoices) before offloading
- Offload pallets and execute put – aways into racking
- Perform visual inspections, confirm seal integrity, and check for damages
- Handle material movement and physical staging
- Confirm truck readiness for offloading and coordinate unloading with minimal documentation accountability
- Minimize damages and maintain high levels of hygiene in the work environment
- Perform daily checks of forklifts and complete daily checklists. Report any malfunctions/ damages
- Process paperwork as required and operate Mechanical Handling Equipment
- Contribute to site continuous improvement initiatives
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management
- Work within a physically demanding environment and adhere to safety standards including maintaining 5S principles
Qualifications/ Skills/ Competencies/ Experiences
- Matric
- Forklift certificate and license
- 2 – 3 years experience in a similar role or environment
