Job Purpose

Full end‑to‑end management of all warehousing and distribution activities within the KZN Region, providing logistics support to the branch.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance & Safety

  • Enforce health, safety, and hygiene standards in line with South African Occupational Health and Safety Act regulations, food safety regulations, HACCP, ISO, and QHSE group policy.
  • Maintain documentation for audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Ensure hazardous chemical regulations are met.
  • Ensure all incident reports are investigated and corrective action taken.
  • Ensure cleanliness of the warehouses and maintaining high housekeeping standards.

Security Management

  • Manage all security service providers, ensuring adherence to site and customer security requirements.
  • Ensure daily, weekly and monthly reporting is in place and aligned to national requirements.
  • Ensure alignment on all escort procedures and port requirements.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and align security requirements with National Security Manager.

Finance Management

  • Ensure all costing schedules are updated and submitted to accounts for invoicing.
  • Manage and ensure profitability of P&L.
  • Ensure on‑time submission of labour provisions.
  • Monthly P&L Review.
  • Ensure GM forecast submitted weekly.
  • Ensure all financial controls and approvals.

Claims Management

  • Ensure end‑to‑end claims management process is in place.

Equipment and Facility

  • Ensure ongoing maintenance of buildings, yards, facilities and equipment.
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained and serviced according to required milestones to maintain operating efficiency.
  • Ensure site maintenance cost in line with P&L.
  • Sourcing and setting of additional warehouses as and when required.

Inventory & Stock Control

  • Ensure accurate and real‑time inventory tracking using WMS.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and full stock audits.
  • Organise and oversee the various cargo defined in contractual terms and conditions.
  • Stock take planning and management.
  • Cycle counting and damages control.
  • Ensure all customer requirements met and all reporting is submitted accurately and on time.
  • Ensure constant WMS maintenance and alignment to operational and customer requirements.

Staff Management

  • Manage and develop warehouse teams to achieve organisational goals.
  • Implement training programs focused on productivity and safety.
  • Manage and encourage employees to optimise their outputs and foster a high‑performance culture aligned within various departments.
  • Ensure adherence to company disciplinary code.
  • Lead and motivate the different teams under responsibility.
  • Performance management of all employees.
  • Ensure sufficient staff is employed for client / company demand.
  • Management of departmental training.
  • Ensure management of labour broker contract, staff, HR, IR and cost controls.

Project Management

  • Set up project plans for all new projects, customer take‑on and continued improvements.
  • Implement lean practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Promote automation and technology to reduce manual handling.
  • Comply with the Compliance Self‑Assessment.
  • Set up and maintain all departmental KPIs.
  • Set up and review all customer KPI’s.
  • Ensure regular SOP reviews and operational alignment.
  • Ensure roll‑out, implementation and operational alignment of all projects.
  • Ensure review and submission of monthly customer and management presentations.

CMA Management

  • Ensure all Collateral Management Procedures are adhered to at all times.
  • Ensure all cargo under HC is managed as per CMA Procedure.
  • Ensure CMA alignment to customer requirements.
  • Ensure all monthly reporting summoned for all cargo under HC.
  • Ensure CMA requirements are aligned and approved by legal.
  • Ensure due diligence is complete for banks and customers as and when required.

Bond store Management

  • Ensure all customs regulations always adhere to.
  • Ensure Bond book aligned to WMS.
  • Facilitate any customs inspections.
  • Manage time on expired goods.

Customer & Supplier Relations Management

  • To ensure quality service delivery to all AGL clients is maintained.
  • To liaise between clients and service delivery teams.
  • Responsible for problem solving and service reporting.
  • To develop and manage SLAs with constant checks on infrastructure and related support service delivery teams.
  • Host suppliers, clients and outside enterprises.
  • Oversee the good execution of the contracts related to equipment supply and participate to negotiation of some purchases (supplies, packings, warehouse supplies).
