Job summary

A logistics company in Johannesburg is seeking a Logistics and Warehouse Operator to manage inbound deliveries and support the procurement department. The ideal candidate has 2-3 years of experience in warehousing, proficiency in SAP, and excellent communication skills. Qualifications

Job description
Purpose of Position :
  • To provide efficient day-to-day support for procurement and logistics department.
Duties & Responsibility :
  • Receives inbound deliveries from customers, suppliers, and Courier / Freight Companies,
  • Checks if the delivered goods match with the invoice and Purchase Order.
  • Inspects the shipments if there is no sign of damage on the packaging prior to signing the delivery note / invoice.
  • Mark the received goods to ensure that FIFO principle is maintained.
  • Amend Purchase order (if necessary) and then perform Goods receipt process on SAP (MIGO)
  • Pack the goods into the relevant Storage Locations / bins.
  • Responsible for picking the goods and dispatch them for delivery to customers.
  • Operates the warehouse forklift and other materials moving equipment.
  • Share Proof of deliveries and related invoices with Logistics Team Lead for further handling.
  • Prepares and issue delivery notes and hand-out documents to be signed by the Logistics Team Lead for all stock items to be delivered.
  • Prepares, prints, and attached shipment labels as per Company standards.
  • Performs stock transfers in-and-out and between storage locations when necessary.
  • Runs weekly stock reports such as GR-IR, obsolete stock, dead stock for reporting submission
  • Manages demo and trial stock
  • Responsible for the general housekeeping of the Stores.
  • Responsible for all packing and preparation of shipments (local and exports)
  • Maintain an up-to-date record of audit trails for the warehouse (Picking Slips, Delivery Notes, etc)
  • Filing / management of records, archiving and storage requirements.
  • Regular Stock take of RMA inventory as required
  • Participation in Audit, Stocktaking and assist Shared Services.
  • Compliance with The Company Mining Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures,
  • Participation in audits and compliance with instructions given in respect to the health and safety of himself / herself and the safety of others
  • Submissions of monthly stock reports
  • Other duties as required from time to time.
Critical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
  • Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (in particular, MS Word and Excel)
  • Sound working knowledge of general inventory program applications
  • Sound working knowledge of SAGE / SAP ERP purchase order module is desirable, although training will be available on The Company's internal systems

Qualifications and experience :
  • Grade 12
  • Further tertiary qualification in Logistics will be advantageous.
  • 2 -3 years’ experience in warehousing and storekeeping
  • SAP Materials Management Module essential
