The Waiter/Waitress at Pepperclub Hotel is professional, attentive, and friendly, with a solid knowledge of food, wine, and service standards. This role requires constant interaction with guests to ensure they have a memorable, personalised dining experience across our restaurants, bar, and events. Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Deliver superior, friendly, and personalised guest service at all times.
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of food, beverages, and menu offerings.
- Greet guests, take accurate orders, and communicate details clearly to the kitchen and bar.
- Assess guest preferences and make informed recommendations.
- Confidently up-sell and suggest additional menu items to enhance guest experience.
- Provide guidance to guests on hotel dining options, activities, and Cape Town attractions.
- Prepare and maintain clean, well-set tables and service areas.
- Ensure checks, payments, and billing are handled accurately.
- Assist with stock control, requisitions, and inventory management as needed.
- Maintain compliance with health, hygiene, and safety standards.
- Participate in daily briefings to stay updated on menu changes, specials, and reservations.
- Actively contribute to teamwork, a positive service culture, and smooth departmental operations.
Requirements, Qualifications & Expectations
- Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal); additional languages advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a warm, guest-focused personality.
- A passion for hospitality and serving people.
- Minimum 2 years’ waitering or bartending experience in a luxury hotel, fine dining, or upmarket restaurant/bar environment.
- Experience with Point of Sale (POS) systems and basic stock/inventory control.
- Ability to work calmly under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional appearance and grooming in line with hotel standards.
- Flexible availability for shifts, weekends, evenings, and public holidays.
- Reliable, diligent, and detail-oriented with proven commitment to service excellence.
- Knowledge of Cape Town and surrounding areas is advantageous.
- International or luxury property experience beneficial.
