Role Overview
We're looking for a skilled VoIP Telecoms Support Engineer to join our Cape Town team.
In this role, you'll be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of Yeastar PBX systems.
The ideal candidate will deliver high-quality telephony solutions, troubleshoot issues, and provide technical expertise to clients across a range of business sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain Yeastar PBX systems, knowledge of other Asterisk based platforms such as FreePBX would be advantageous
- Provide remote support, diagnosing and resolving issues related to VoIP systems, SIP trunks, and associated network components.
- Perform system upgrades, back-ups, patching, and routine maintenance to ensure reliability, performance, and security.
- Collaborate with clients and internal teams to design and implement customised telecom solutions.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive technical documentation of configurations and procedures.
- Deliver end-user training and share best practices for telephony usage and management.
- Liaise with vendors and service providers to manage provisioning, troubleshooting, and escalations.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Yeastar certification or equivalent vendor qualification.
- Experience with other PBX or Unified Communications platforms.
- Understanding of network security best practices in telecom environments.
- Familiarity with SIP monitoring tools, packet analysis, or call quality diagnostics.
Required Technical Skills & Experience
- Proven experience supporting or implementing Yeastar PBX systems.
- Strong working knowledge of Asterisk and / or FreePBX.
- Deep understanding of VoIP protocols (SIP, RTP) and SIP trunk provisioning.
- Strong background in network infrastructure (LAN / WAN, VLANs, firewalls, QoS).
- Competence in Linux server administration and CLI-based troubleshooting.
- Excellent diagnostic and analytical skills with a methodical approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively within a hybrid team setup.
