Placements24 is seeking a Viticulturist to manage and optimize vineyards near Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape. You will oversee all vineyard operations from planting to harvesting to ensure premium grape quality for winemaking.

Qualifications

• Degree in Viticulture, Horticulture, Agriculture, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of vineyard management experience.
• Strong knowledge of grapevine physiology, soil science, and pest/disease management in viticulture.
• Experience with irrigation, fertilization, and canopy management.
• Familiarity with winemaking processes is an advantage.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage vineyard operations efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement vineyard management plans focusing on grape quality and yield optimization.
• Monitor vine health, soil conditions, and weather patterns, implementing corrective actions as needed.
• Manage irrigation systems, fertilization programs, and pest and disease control strategies.
• Oversee canopy management practices, including pruning, shoot thinning, and leaf removal.
• Coordinate harvest activities, ensuring optimal grape maturity and quality are achieved.
• Maintain detailed records of vineyard activities, yields, and costs.
