Placements24 is seeking a Vineyard Operations Supervisor for a prestigious wine estate near Paarl in the Cape Winelands. The role leads a team of viticulture workers, overseeing daily vineyard activities and ensuring high-quality grape production for renowned wines.

You will manage irrigation, pest management, records, and equipment while collaborating with the Winemaker and Viticulturist to uphold sustainable viticulture across extensive blocks.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in viticulture, horticulture, agriculture or a related field.
• Proven experience (3+ years) in vineyard management or supervision.
• Strong knowledge of grape physiology, soil science, and sustainable viticulture practices.
• Experience with irrigation systems, pest and disease control, and vineyard machinery.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily vineyard tasks: planting, pruning, canopy management, harvesting.
• Monitor vineyard health and manage pest and disease strategies; oversee irrigation systems.
• Ensure adherence to the estate’s viticultural program and quality standards.
• Maintain records of treatments, yields, soil and water analyses.
• Operate and maintain vineyard machinery safely and efficiently.
• Collaborate with Winemaker and Viticulturist to optimize grape quality for winemaking.

About the Role

Our client, a prestigious wine estate situated in the heart of the Cape Winelands near Paarl , is seeking a dedicated Vineyard Operations Supervisor . This role is responsible for the day-to-day management and supervision of all vineyard activities, ensuring the cultivation of high-quality grapes for their renowned wines. You will lead a team of viticulture workers, manage vineyard health and irrigation, and implement best practices in viticulture. This is a hands‑on position requiring a deep understanding of grape growing, soil science, and pest management, coupled with strong leadership and organizational skills to maintain exceptional standards across extensive vineyards.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily tasks for vineyard staff, including planting, pruning, canopy management, and harvesting.
• Monitor vineyard health, implement integrated pest and disease management strategies, and oversee irrigation systems.
• Ensure adherence to the estate's viticultural program and quality standards for grape production.
• Maintain records of vineyard activities, including treatments, yields, and soil/water analysis.
• Operate and maintain vineyard machinery and equipment safely and efficiently.
• Collaborate with the Winemaker and Viticulturist to ensure optimal grape quality for winemaking.
